This is not a smart arsed question (though it may seem so) -
What is an audio book and why?
I assume an audio book is one that has been transcribed so that those who either cannot see or cannot read can enjoy these books? (please excuse my ignorance)

it's reading for the lazy.. when you were a kid, didn't you prefer your parents reading a story to you instead of reading it yourself?
the ones i have put on here so far are unabridged - aka: the reader reads the book from beginning to end, word for word..
Cheers. I'll be listening to Fight Club on my next flight out to NZ. :2thumbsup
