This is an aftermarket exhaust system designed for the new gixxers and the R6.
Does anyone know if you could get a W.O.F with it though as it looks like its just the factory system with the end can hacked off. What about if you got pulled over by the cops, what would they think of something like this?
Here is a bit of info I found on it.....
This product is an I.C.E. Motorsports Product
For riders wanting maximum performance from their bikes there is no better way to achieve it than by installing a I.C.E. exhaust system. This not only adds horsepower but drops unnecessary weight from the bike while giving your bike the custom look. They provide many of the same performance benefits as our full exhaust system but at a budget friendly price level.
Available in Race(105db) and Ultra Quiet(98db)Models
Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Will I need to remap my bike?
A. We recommend using this exhaust in conjunction with a power commander, however it is not mandatory.
Q. Do I remove my servo valve?
A. The servo valve is welded to the stock exhaust and cannot be removed. All aftermarket slip-on require the valve to be removed.
Q. Is this a Straight pipe or a muffler?
A. There is a baffle (muffler) inside the exhaust to regulate the flow of back pressure, and also to control the sound levels.

I think there's more too it than what you can see. Must be a bit of a muffler section underneath, just like the original.
As for WOF's, most bike shops are realistic, if its not extremely loud you'll be fine. Just don't go roaring up and down any main streets in town.

Do you reckon the cops would hassle you about it though? Cause it sortta does look like the factory one has just been hacked off eh.

Given that I hardly ever see bikers pulled over in my area.....then no.
I have a race system on my Gixxer and as long as I don't gun it everywhere noone seems to mind.
That ICE one, looks cool though :)

Yes but being subjective they can still be a cunt and give you a ticket if they want......just gotta be careful where you open it up, and try not to wheelie past an unmarked car ;)

Yeah I see what your saying, but you have an end can that looks like a normal one. Where this looks as though it has just been removed.
Hmmm I might just get it anyway.

umm there is no longer a dB level which is required to be under, there was in the 1976 traffic regulations along with an internationally recognised testing procedure.............but they replaced that with a GREY law that they could use to get anyone they didnt like, ie boy racers etc or anyone that pisses them off without the need for things such as evidence

I doubt you would be aloud on a NZ race track with a 105db exhuast.....so I really doubt you'll be aloud to have it on the road...

Did I say you were?? All i said is they have removed the quantified standards with a subjective one. Typical of our gunnmint to write these shit laws!
But with the current law a 429 Shelby Cobra with Drainpipes for exhausts is fine as that how they left the factory! If thats how it comes from the factory you are fine no matter how loud it is!

Sweet so all I have to do it get a glass etch kit and a stensil and etch GSX-R on it and say it is factory.

Yeah, but it'd be a crime against humanity to make a car like that illegal.
You may see a million and one GSXR's, R1's, CBR's etc one the roads, but you wont see many Shelby Cobra's on the road - even less that are genuine.

Was a nice one in Taka the other day sitting there at the lights idleing, funny how every guy stopped and just watched in awe, especially if they were with a woman who just kept walking whilst they stood there and admired the beast!
I followed one on my 600 a few years back coming out from Huia. He was doing a fair clip, but not overly pushing it, despite my best efforts to egg him on! Really wanted him to open it up to see what it could do. Love the concept of a whopping great V8 in a small light body.
Anyway, sorry guys for the thread hijack. I'm not a fan of the ICE pipes myself, but I'd probably go for the quieter one if I was you. 105db's gonna be loud, annoyingly so I would have thought.

What's this talk about removing the 'servo'? Does the GSXR have an exaust valve kind of like EXUP etx?
I'm thinking that if you remove it you'll lose some bottom end/midrange - probably get a whole lot extra up top. Do you spend most of your time riding above 11,000rpm? Something to think about...

Nah I don't think they lose midrange at all in my experience.

if they give you a ticket.. you can fight it using the " where are the testing perameters?" defense..
laws are not subjective.. they have SPECIFIC laws on speed.. DWI, Specific perameters on how much tread on your tires..how much tint on your windows ..
where is it written on noise levels at what distance and RPM, indoors or out?

when fitting yoshi pipes the instructions read "exhaust valve must be disconected to not void warranty"

Do they rate the exhaust dB at its maximum or at a certain RPM?
My stock Beemer can has 94dB at 7500 RPM stamped on it. It could be just an EC mark.
The Akrapovic full system has 98 dB stamped on it. No RPM though.
Just an associated question.
Cheers

Not enough detail in pics, but it could be very similar to the racefit slashcut, as cowpoos mentioned. The racefit version has zilch baffle, muffling etc. Its a piece of titanium basically. Your one Fishslayer, may or may not have something inside the fairing, sorta like the gsxr 600/750 stubby.
Personally I love the clean look, with only an opening on the side. Really really wanted to fit one to my bike, but with mates reckoning it stands at 115db at the moment, fitting a slashcut would (rough estimation) push it to around 140db, which is nuts, as I would go deaf, and still have bleeding ears, no matter what earplugs I got.
Would be a perfect solution for me as well though, as my pipe comes out at an angle, and I scrape it on the odd objects. :innocent:
Only thing you need to check on, is making sure you have enough back pressure etc, don't want to be screwing everything up... I sadly will have to wait for another bike, before I can find out
