Hey guys,
well here's a little rant from me.... As some of you may have read i went on the ride to Whangamata on the 23/05 and i thrashed my little RG too its absolute limits (as my knee sliders and pegs can atest too....) And after all of the weather and TRYING to keep up with the bigger bikes i didnt crash or come near to crashing........
Well this is the part the mad me angry....... I went to Haldanes to look for a helmet for racing and tyres for my bike and dads bike....... I parked my bike in the BIKE ONLY CARPARK....... As i come up from downstairs a guy comes in, and says "Ive knocked a bike over" and as soon as he says that i knew it was mine :thud: ..... Well this guy parked his 4X4 in the bike only carpark infront of my bike, he then backed up, failing to look behind him, and knocked my bike over :disapint: Result, a new fairing that i only got 3 weeks ago now has a scratch on it, my perfect tank now has a pin dent in it and the handle bar is bent :disapint: , Ive spent soooooo much on this bike and then to have it ruined not even by me :( , not even when im near the bike :( Oh well he will have to buy a new handle bar, and luckily it is going to get a new clutch and chain and sprockets........
Well rant over lol

As i come up from downstairs a guy comes in, and says "Ive knocked a bike over"
Hey, at least he had the decency to admit it to it and not just drive off.
But yeah milk all that you can out of him

Yeah i give him credit for stopping and owning up, the tank is extremely minor as is the scratch, so ill be happy just with the new handle bar..... But if he didnt see a bike at that speed, imagine him at speed??????? :eek5:
Maybe its time to buy a second bike and make that one look flash......
What a bugger TS, sorry to hear that. If its any consolation I know how you feel. I let my 5 week old CBR fall over on Saturday  . a split second carelessness with the side stand. Sounds like your fairing is only scratched. For those who have shattered a fairing check out repairs before ordering a new part. I got quotes today for a new side fairing $385. Only $80 to get it fixed.

You're lucky the guy admitted his mistake. Same thing happened to my F4 and the girl is still trying to fight it, even though the police sited her for it and the bike was parked legally and she wasn't. it seems her insurance company doen't want to know either so mine is suing them both.
If no money comes out of them my insurance goes up and I loose my no claims bonus despite never making a claim in 16 years! If it wasn't going to cost over 4K to fit I'd flag it. :argh:
Those f&*^%king road tractors should be banned, there is no reason to drive one in the city. :2guns:

DON'T SETTLE!!
For goodness sake he damaged your pride and joy and he should FIX it.
If you let him get away with it he will go on thinking it is OK to back over bikes.
Insurance will find in your favour, you won't lose your NC bonus, and you won't even have to front up the excess.
Stop worrying about whether or not the dude who bashed your bike with his irrelevantly huge 4WD thinks you're a nice guy and get your bike back to its pristine state. It will help at trade in time too.

Yeah im thinking about claiming it, but the damage is sooooo minor, and i dont think the insurance company likes me very much after my last claim...... I agree about City tractors being banned, ive got no worries about 4x4's in the country, but people have them in the city because they think they are "safer" and they will come off better in a crash..... hence causing people to think it will be ok if i crash, instead of i should avoid crashes at all costs.....

Sucks to hear that dude, claim as mcuh as he damaged at least. You probally pay absurd premiums yourself being one of those (young male) extra dangerous people, time to get something back from the insurance industry.

Jesus, this drives me nuts. Mind you it's not just there - when I lived in Aro Valley I'd have some fucknut parked over my driveway at least once a week visiting a mate or helping their kid do their paper round or whatever. And what'd be worse is they were all arrogant, self-righteous shits who would have a go at me for daring to suggest they might want to move it before a tow truck arrived.
That rather hit a nerve...
Still, it was a nerve soothed on Saturday when I watched the traffic wardens on their first week in town walk down the bike park on Mercer Street and ticket every selfish, illegally parked dork. Hope it's a big fine.
That said, good on the bloke for being honest, even if he drives like a bloody idiot. Perhaps he'll learn a lesson.

No it is proven that you are more likely to be hert in a 4x4 so they are not safer. If someone had that attude I recon that they would think the same way if they drove a car.
Those f&*^%king road tractors should be banned, there is no reason to drive one in the city. :2guns:
heres a reason ummm.. to get ta work! I think that if a person is so wankie as to park in a m/c or wheel chair park then they would do it in a mini aswell.
You cant blame the 4x4 it was the prick that parked it there.
TS, I'd be fuming sorry to here this I'd push him for the lot.

Shit yes, make sure he pays for all the damage, fairing repairs are expensive. Had some jerk back into my parked bike once. My front guard caught on his bumper (no not a 4x4, just an ordinary "can"). He paniced and went forward, dropping my bike. No end of headaches getting him to get it fixed, but got him to do it in the end:finger:

TS, get your insurance to look over your bike. At the very least go to a shop and get them to do a damage assesment and quote on the repairs, I recomend Ricky at Mt Edens.
Handle bars, end wieght's, levers all cost money, plus there could be an import time as well. eg the handle bar alone for the GPZ is ~$285 plus a 3 week wait to get it into the country.
Touch up on the fairings from around $80 upwards.
Steering bearings may need doing etc
It's better to spend a few hours of your time finding out how much is really done before getting any work done. If you can, make sure the work gets done at a shop you know and trust.
It's not your fault, therefore it should not affect your insurance.

Yeah i took it too colemans as soon as it happened, waiting to hear the price for the handle bar, but was told "expensive"....... I also asked for a quote on the touch up paint, so should hear about it either tomoro or on thursday..... I was angry, but then im not the kind of guy to show it unless you really make me angry....... THe guy gave me his business card, and hes high ranking so getting the $$$ from him will be no problem, i will ring him tonight to tell him whats happening.....

Well, for what its worth, it was an accident. The guy probably felt pretty
bad as well by the sounds. He sounds responsible enough. Just imagine
if it was a person that didn't give a shit and just drove off! :ar15:
Sorry about the bike though, that is a real bummer, especially
when it wasn't you but someone else that damaged the bike.

It's irrelevant what the insurance company thinks or 'feels' about you - their job is to make money from insurance, and they are certainly doing that. This isn't your fault, so you don't need to be worried about what the insurance company 'thinks' or 'feels' - just get your bike fixed up to the condition it was before the accident (which is actually part of your responsibility as policy holder!)

Damn that is so annoying ....I just got back from the supermarket and while I was there a chick in an over-sized tonka toy backed into a couple of bikes in the carpark !!(A GN250 & an XJ550)...she was getting ready to shoot when I wandered over :Oi: :Playnice: and suggested she leave her details on the bikes. She didn't have a pen & paper but I did .....So I watched her write it all out ......there wasn't too much damage done but they both had lost some paint and the GN looked to have a bend in the handle-bar. I went in to the shop and got the owners paged....they were pretty pissed off too !!
People like that really get my goat !!....If they can't see to drive the bloody things then they shouldn't have one ...maybe drivers of those 4X4's need to do a course first !!.....There is always the bleating about riders on big bikes ...what about the drivers and their big ....cages !!! :angry2:
