Just wondering how impassable the main road is?
I'm looking at skooting down next week and just wanna know how bad the main road gets.

Lots of frost grit on the hills before and after Dunedin, some good frosts lately.

No snow but watch for ice in the shaded areas - and grit, especially in/around towns.
Apart from that the roads are pretty good.

Oh, and try not to run over any of the almost-frozen-to-death penguins lounging about on the coastal bits.:blah:
(I'm sure that's the image a lot of North Islanders have of down here)
