Hey guys....
I have a problem. I want a bike but i dont exactly live in the ideal place to test ride bikes. The shop i work for deals mainly in dirtbikes and i really wanna have a ride on a zxr250 and a hyosung GT250R just to compare the two types of egines.
Would u guys reckon that the v-twin or the saki screamer would be more fun for going on a weekend ride into the back blocks of hawkes bay?? just to get away from things.
I understand that the torque of the twin will be a tad bit better than the zx and i think i like that idea but could u throw around the GT like you can the zx??
Does the zx leave it for dead or can the GT still keep up a reasonable pace if your riding with say...vfr400's and gsx750's??
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Torque is about engine capacity, so they'll have about the same torque, but the power delivery of the V-Twin is more linear than the IL4 which will be peakier.
What I suggest you do is have a trip to Wellington one weekend, go to TSS Motorcycles and ask to speak to Stew. He'll sort you out.

Over and outthe v-twin would pull with out having to rev the nuts of it but it comes down to what you feel more comfy on :scooter: owned a tl and was great on corners and up hills but found it a bugger keeping up on long straights when the gsxrs would start to wined out so ride both and think hard :wait:

Mate as soon as you get a few rides under your belt, it won't be "the back blocks of Hawkes Bay" the whole of the North Island will become your playground (although there are some great roads up that way)
I'd say if you can take a weekend trip down here - a Friday and Saturday then you should have plenty of time to do ride and decide what you like.
Sas - did you notice it's got a big pimple?

Unfortunately this is all too common with businesses in the business of selling things for profit.:blip:

I rode a Hyosing GT250 for a day, and it was ARSE. ARSE I tell you ARSE. Everything was WRONG. Ghastly little thing. I am suprised the owners are not put off bikes forever.
I rode my friends VT250FG thingamy (Like this (http://images.google.com/images?client=opera&rls=en&q=vt250fg&sourceid=opera&oe=UTF-8&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wi)) on the weekend and was pretty much in love with it. Honestly, it was pissing down, it was freezing, and I was grinning. Nice bike. And I used to have have a VTR250 (Like this (http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Motorbikes/Motorbikes/Sports/auction-61067298.htm)) so my bias may be showing a little.
Anyway, now I own a little screamer bike instead.
So, what do I think would be a better leaner bike? Not the Hyosung, but probably not a screamer either. Find some Honda v twin 250 4 stroke instead. When you find yourself wringing the neck of the engine screaming "FASTTTTTERRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!" ('Cos you will) it is time to try something else. But the ease of use of less cylinders will give you a more gentle introduction to road motorcycles. So for the backblocks; the v twin for the moment.
Mind you, many have had a CBR250 or a ZXR250 as a first bike and have come out the other end sane, so I am just adding my 2c.

Hyosung is cheap and breaks easy from what I've heard... ZXRs are more expensive but you'll get more respect for riding them..
In short;
ZXR = Hot
GT = Not

it seems to be the trend.. people with ZXRs seem happy with them, people with GT250R's well.. they're not.. glad I didn't splash out on getting one as a first bike..
If you're truly interested in the GT250R though, PM swanny, and he'll tell 'ya all about it :yes:

Thanks guys thats all good aye... I do agree slightly with the comment about zx's being hot. What I'd really love is one of the copper and blak zx250's...they look like that chick who wears mini skirts on freezing cold nights at the clubs hahaha
