I just heard that on the radio myself. I have to say I was rather surprised, though personally I think he deserves a place. Maybe they are changing the blinkered stance on the world cup and deciding they need some smarts in the team to beat aussie.

Just didn't think it would happen after recent events........

The fact you don't notice him in the No 6 jersey is a testament to his proficiency.

You'd sure as fuck notice if he wasn't there.

Previous to this season I was not a Rueben Thorne fan. Although I wouldn't say I am a fan now, I do have a newfound respect for him and I reckon he deserves his place (I was uite surprised he didn't get picked in the first place)
The full team:
Backs: Leon MacDonald, Mils Muliaina, Rico Gear, Doug Howlett, Joe Rokocoko, Scott Hamilton, Ma'a Nonu, Isaia Toeava, Aaron Mauger, Daniel Carter, Luke McAlister, Piri Weepu, Byron Kelleher, Jimmy Cowan.

Forwards: Rodney So'oialo, Richie McCaw (captain), Chris Masoe, Jerry Collins, Reuben Thorne, Chris Jack, Ali Williams, Jason Eaton, Greg Rawlinson, Carl Hayman, Greg Somerville, Neemia Tialata, Tony Woodcock, Anton Oliver, Keven Mealamu, Andrew Hore.

No Casey Laladela, no Sam Tuitupou, - no surprise

I actually reckon apart from Sivivatu they've got the right mix there. But as the reports have been saying where's the depth in some areas? I'm still not sold on Toeava in the centres but who else is there? Caleb F**kin' Ralph??!!??

GR81
27th June 2006, 16:55
Ralph is mint... not so sure about centre tho.
good winger!
bring back frank bunce! :(

dIRTY BUTT BAG!! I almost tempted to start a RED REP war because I disagree so strongly with you!! (not really - you post heaps of prone)
Caleb Ralph is the most over-rated player the game in NZ has seen...

Im no fan of Reuban either but after having to play No. 6 this year for the first time , I realised he is awesome at that position.
He does all the hard yards , why can richie play such a loose open game?
Because Reuban does all the tight stuff.
and his set play is bloody fantastic from what i can see.
his body position and skills at set play is primo.

I feel he thouraghly deserves to be in the squad.

I'm a bit surprised after he cried off captaining the Junior ABs. He has plenty of experience, but he's no Jerry Collins. I guess with Luaki unavailable Henry has to use him for injury cover in a reduced squad size.

I care

Mate are you blind?

look at the thread above, Your question ""who fucken cares "
is pretty narrow minded as the people who have posted above care ( maybe not care but have shown an intrest in this topic.)

You're welcome to your opinion, I respect that but why put it in big bold letters ?
To get your point across,
yay big ups for the clever prick

na, couldnt take that title away from Conrad Smith.
maybe best white centre? haha

Colapop
28th June 2006, 08:46
:gob: I cannot believe you'd put those two players anywhere near the same category??!!?? Conrad Smith will be the incumbent AB centre at next years world cup. Caleb Ralph will be pulling his pud on the couch at home!

Tell that to Rhodes Scholar David Kirk, captain off the world cup winning All Black squad. You would be suprised how many All Blacks have degrees, or are working towards one. Rugby is the sport of choice in many top private and boarding schools where ever it is played. In fact it is named after RUGBY SCHOOL in England, where it was first played, and where it is more of an "upper class" sport.

Unwise in the ways, you are

Conrad Smith has a law degree, Jimmy Gopperth, Tamati Ellison and Joe Mcdonnell are all part way through degress (and scoring in the top 25%) - yeah rugby players are all dullards and no hopers.... *Tui*

Meh. Each to their own. I don't understand why you'd post in a thread about rugby if you don't like the sport. Is it just for the purpose of illiciting a response? Are you seeking attention?

You are entitled to your opinion - just as others that do enjoy the game are entitled to theirs.
