The temperature had been -8 overnight, but this afternoon it had risen to a nice balmy -4. A perfect excuse to take a ride and get a new pair of winter weight gloves.

Fantastic pic Malcolm and not even at your limit for riding of minus 6. They breed you lot tough. (I'd like to think that your formative years in the Waikato might have contributed a teensy bit:rockon: )
Geoff
Hope they were electric gloves, and you have heated grips. Or are your gloves frozen to the grips now.
Real Brass Monkey weather that!

Cold, that is not cold. I grew up in a place where we pissed ice cubes
Good on ya for going for a ride. I'm a Twizel lad myself so I know what it gets like down there.

Thanks Geoff, Paulette was playing with the camera just as I was heading out, and I also thought she got a good pic. The hoar frost is really nice at the moment.

Pardon? Electric gloves? Heated grips? No, its not THAT cold. Just winter weight Dri-Riders.

It sure is nice looking Jantar - very fairyland looking and not bad fun riding as long as the roads are dry..
Went to a car crash south of Clinton today, ice in the roadside puddles were 3" thick (76mm for metric types)
No wonder the poor bugger skidded off the road in the ice.

The roads up here are in good condition at the moment, generally dry with good grip. There was one icy patch in Letts Gulley wher I had to take it easy, otherwise just nice cruising. :scooter:

ummmmmmmm. wheres the sun?
Haven't seen that thing for about 3 or 4 days, untill about an hour ago when there was a whitish disk starting to show through the fog. It might have been the sun, but if it was then its gone again now.
I've now covered the bike, and I'll review conditions again on Saturday when I have to go back to work.

Thought about washing CBs Laser, got the car washing bucket and tipped out the ice, saw it was 70mm thick (measured it) and thought "Not today"
and put the bucket back.
