I came through Eastern Hutt Rd from Sliverstream around 3.45. The road south from Stokes was blocked off and all traffic was being diverted up where I came from. I had the impression the problem was in Pomare as the spikes were laid out in the northbound lane from Pomare at the roundabout.

Some of the cops were wearing bulletproof vests, the female officers looked particularly spiffing imho.:blip:

Was in Pomare, not in Stokes V. Split from Gracefield to Wingate bridge and then back (all banked up traffic) to Naenae round-a-boot, KGB, motorway, Silverstream, Stokes, Home. Long trip...but not as long as it would have been if I was in a cage. SUCKERS!!! ;).

Guns and explosives found in Lower Hutt house
28 June 2006

Three men will appear in court today after a search warrant uncovered explosives and firearms from a Lower Hutt house.


An army bomb disposal unit was called in to help police recover suspected explosives from the house on Eastern Hutt Road after a search warrant was executed under the Arms Act.

Inspector Bruce Dunstan said a number of firearms and what was suspected to be industrial explosives were found at the property.

Police and the armed offenders squad cordoned off the area around 3pm and the road was reopened at 5pm.

The suspected explosives had not been moved and the road may be closed again today when they are recovered.

Police said four men at the house were taken to Lower Hutt Police Station and three would appear in Lower Hutt District Court today facing a variety of charges

Police said the house was in a semi-industrial area and it was not a known gang address.
