found one in aussie last year brought it, didn't work (the one i brought was last in the shop, and had damage packaging), it wasn't charging the battery at all, so returned it, been looking for one, But if they are here, i am off to get one, cheaper than the radio controled duke i saw last weekend for $300

Wow bladez, those pics bring back the memories. My father bought me one of the Kyosho r/c bikes in France in the late 80's. The RGV (the one you have the pic of) was the one I really wanted but the Gardner NSR he got me was cool. He also got me the light-weight front rim weight conversion, a hop-up motor and the proper ball bearing kit for it. Had it for ages until I finally destroyed it. Actual size of those were about 1/10 or 1/8, much smaller than this new one. From my experience with this one so far a bit easier to control. But hey I was like 13 or 14 at the time so could do anything, now I'm old and slower.

Oh yeah, working fliud suspension and chain drive on those ones. This new one has a belt drive and spring-only suspension. If you look closely at the pics you can see the 'crash bars' on the side to protect the fairings. Used those many times. The idea was you could get the bike to self start by spinning around on the bar fast enough so the bike would pick it self up. It did work but it also wore through the bars pretty quick. Trying to get spares (any spares) in NZ at the time was impossible, so we contacted the Kyosho factory directly in Japan and had spares shipped over from there.

The crash bars kept the bike looking mint. However our Rottweiler used to love chasing it around and barking at it. I left it outside one day and came out to find him eating Waynes body. He'd pulled it off the bike (attached by velcro) and comnpletely destroyed him. Wasn't the same with no rider.

anyone got theres going, charged the battery, plug it in, turn it on (check both on same frequence), the lighs on controler light up when you do something, the bike itselfs makes a beeping noise, but, no wheel movement.

Sorry this is Cajun

bobsmith
29th June 2006, 07:53
beeping noise sounds like the ESC, give it a bit more throttle while you're holding it up and see if the wheels turn... perhaps interference problem are there any other rc toys around? otherwise is the aerial for the transmitter screwed into the transmitter? how about the steering, is the steering working when you turn the wheel on the transmitter?

Cajun

If you're getting the "alarm clock" type beep, then its probably the battery.
When I first got it I couldnt help but put the battery straight in (damn fine print) the wheel went for about .5 sec then the beeping started. Charged it and it worked fine. So if you've already charged yours and its doing it, there's a prob.

I've had a breif go of mine in the work carpark (still full of cars) which is your typical underground slippery concrete. You cant turn tight at all with the crash bar things on there. Ive highsided it twice! Front end seems a bit funny, but need to get it into an open space to have a good play.

As I said .. minor modifications. A high spec motor with an extra battery pack and "boost control" should do it. Open the throttle full and she kicks in should be amusing to see if it works....

But no-one has really said how well they go yet do they actually go quick or are they slow and stuff??

I have a 300Watt brushless motor sitting at home that I'm not using at the moment... it's an outrunner so might be a little difficult though... But if it can pull a 800g plane vertical, I'm sure it's enough to go crazy on a rc bike... hang on... shit I just spent all my money on a real bike....

Just fired it up, fuck its violent, just like a real gixxer.
I had a test session in the kitchen-ring circuit and it seems the bike has plenty of power, brakes are an issue at this point as on the first session the rider had a coming together with the heater safety fence, pushed it back a good foot or so. The next session was equally dissapointing as after a breif recovery period the rider done half a lap before careering into the dehumidifier. Practice has been cancelled at this stage due to water on the track. Both rider and machine appear ok at this stage, it may be an hour or so before Clerk of the course declares it safe for practice to recommence. (When wife buggars off to work)

OK just back from a proper test session at the local RC track.

Took the bike down in my backpack on the Gixxer, got to the RC track and there was this dude there with a serious looking RC car that was doing insane laps, looked like a Pro I thought. Fuck he'll prolly think i'm a knob.
So I pull the bike out and set it up on its supplied race stand. Then I took it off again cause I forgot to put the training wheels on.
Once they were in place it was back on the stand. Put the bike into the on position, it made a starting noise and then idled....sweet.
Got the remote out.
Power, Check. Squeeze trigger, back wheel lights up.. now the noise changed to a bike going flat out, sweet, that works. Hit the turbo button and it kicks up a gear and goes about half as fast again I supposed. Then I checked the steering, that all works.
OK I thought, here we go. That dude with the serious RC car is doing some tu tuuing so I have the track to myself.
Lift the rear off the ground and give it berries, drop the back wheel on to the tarmac and its off, fuck pretty fast too I thought. So I tried turning it, was a bit slower to respond than i woulda liked, but I should get used to that. Kept running into the ripple strips of the circuit which sometimes the bike jumped (looked impressive) and sometimes it would crash if I hit it at the wrong angle.
Time for the trainer wheels to come off I think, so whipped em off and biffed them.
Now your on your own mr botormacycle man.
So I spun up the rear again and it was off, turned to sharp, bam it was down, indicator broke off. Fuck it.
Anyway, I kept at it, eventully the other indicator broke off, I thought it looked much better anyway so didnt care.
So after a while I got the hang of things and was riding like a pro. The only thing is the steering is little slow to respond, to do hard turns you need to back off the throttle quite a bit. It has quite a wide turning circle otherwise.
It lasted quite a while, maybe an hour, then i noticed the first thing to go was the steering, it just wouldnt, then a few minutes later the engine crapped out, it was flat battery, time to go home.

So in conclusion, it is a bit of fun, much better if there were two of you (Devil???), it is only a toy, but it is a cool toy. It has wee chicken strips on the tyres now and cool scrapes on his boots and elbow sliders. Also a scratch on his helmet from the ultimate crash, hit a ripple strip at full noise, flipped the thing end over end, its prety robust.

Its been Dovered

Im charging it up for round two. Devil we need to get together.

Ok, made a vid tonight from some fucking around with the bike last night. Damage included 3 broken indicators and 1 mirror, but it still goes. Need to hop this thing up if I'm going to have any fun with it. Steering is terrible from std, I'll play around with it with some servos I've got from a couple of nitro cars. Also needs more power, I'll look into that. Anyway, here's the vid.

I used to have a Kyosho r/c NSR500, they were the biz in their day. Lots of hopups available and one of the smallest actual chains you'll ever see.
A mate sent me these pics of a R/C Gas powered home built 94 NSR500 rep.
Awesome, I'd love to se it going......

Yeah I saw that link. I've got a couple of nitro cars that I could get a better servo for the steering from. I'll have a couple more runs with it then pull it apart and see what can be done. Hmmm, got a nitro engine with two speed tranny, I wonder if I could squease that setup inside it....

Hello, this (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280000811232&ssPageName=MERC_VI_RSCC_Pr4_PcN_BIN_Stores_IT) brings back the memories! Although mine didn't have the 'hanging on racer', only US$149 including all the gear. I wonder if she'll notice....

There are links at the bottom to the RGV.
