View Full Version : Wellington: Manfeild 29th May: meeting up at the track
Hi there - for those who will be at Manfeild on the 29th, what say we meet up at the beginning of the lunch break outside the cafeteria? (It probably won't be open but we can mingle there). They'll announce the lunchbreak, so you'll know when it is.
Marknz: can you pse pass this onto those who ride up with you, in case any of them haven't seen this post?
I'll have a KB poster with me so you'll know it's the right group!
To all those who will be racing:
If you let me know your bike and race number, I'll find your pit and put up an A4-sized KB poster, so that if other KBer's are wandering around they can say "hi". Okay?

Hi Lynda, I'll be there.
Racing in, (or should I say Riding in), F3 this time. :first: :second: :third: :thud: :spudwhat:
Green KR250. #41 Blue/White leathers.
And do introduce yourselves people. Annoying when people come up and talk to you as if they know who you are, (and sometimes they do, over the net), but when they walk away you think, I have no idea who that was! :disapint:
Hi folks -
I'll be there too. Yellow SV650 #11. Riding in clubmans (VicClub won't let me ride in F3 - so no dice with Racey Rider)

What time's kick off? It's 10 or 11 eh?
Practice is normally around 9.15/9.30am start, racing is normally around 11.00/11.30am start.
Will come and see you both SVS/Racey Rider.

Not a happy day - didn't make it up in the end, which was real stink. How was it up there you people that did end up going? Who got where?
Also, does anyone know if the 4 hour is back on this year? I know the cars are, but dunno about bikes. Shame it seemed to die off - it was a good day out!

Yup, I go there eventually. Didn't leave home till about 9am when I finally heard a weather report that suggested it might clear up during the day.
Spent most of the trip from Levin the Sanson on a 10 degree list to the left given the strong winds. Had one HUGE moment with one gust coming off that long bridge south of Foxton when I got blown into the other lane with a not too small truck coming the other way. I'm tipping he saw the whites of my eyes and I definietly saw his... anyway, managed to counter steer it back across to my lane with maybe 20m to spare.
Arrived at the track and soon caught up with Lynda & Hamish ( thanks for lending me the space in the boot for my gear! ), SVS ( well done on the race 1 result fella! ), Yohann ( damn that 600 sounds great! ), Stu from TSS ( don't worry fella, give it time! ), and Deano and Mrs Deano and friends.
Very windy day at the track spoilt by the occassional shower. Some very good racing was seen, especially by some folk that only had slicks to run in the wet. The meeting came to an unfortunate end when Mitch put her GSXR400 down going into turn one and cracked the case (i think) dropping a fair bit of oil on the racing line which started running down to the inside of the corner. I'm pretty sure she is okay as I saw her walking around the pits afterwards with a smile on her face. What with that and the consistent drizzle it was decided to call the meeting off. They were also running out of time to complete the race card as they had to be off the circuit by 4.30.
Uneventful ride home and got in at about 6.15.
Off for a quick ride over the hill this morning then to the bucket racing for a couple of hours. Then it's meet and greet with Britstorm and get him settled into the capital.
Cheers
A good update of the day Marknz, apart from the fact that we drove up in pissing down rain in the car.
A couple of my mates got good placings (1st/3rd in Post Classics, 2nd/1st in Formula 3) and all in all, apart from the wet/dry weather, a good day.
Velox: as far as I know the bike 4 Hour won't be back. A real shame, after two of them being held they'd started to get a bit of a following and there was some great racing.
Marknz - good to catch up with you at the buckets. Hope you arrived safe and sound Britstorm.

I feel the overwhelming need to defend myself, however the truth speaks for itself. It is true I seem to be crashing a little at the moment HOWEVER I was coming 6th on road tyres in the pouring rain :ride: ahhh fuk it there is no redeeming myself here
As for the smiles White Trash that is just from moving away from Auck landing in Wellington and meeting people like you hehehehe ;)
Hope to see some of you guys at Taupo next weekend. 47 is almost back in one piece and rearing to go :Punk:

Craig was kicking himself on Sunday after he called to double check you were all right. He missed out on an awesome opportunity to level the odds a bit after your very successful 9-24 hassling!! (Did I get the positions right?) :D
I'm extremely pleased to hear that the bike is well on the way to being raceable again & it sounds like you're pretty confident you'll make Taupo too, which is absolutely fantastic chick!!! Can't wait to see you again. btw. Should I tell Craig you'll be there or tell him that you still might not make it??? ;)

Well done to Yohann, SVS and Mitch for giving it heaps in pretty testing conditions.
Mitch, sorry to hear about the spill - I must have left by then and missed it, but saw your close call going in to the inside sweeper in race 1 - looked like the bike in front braked hard going in and you nearly ended up as their pillion.
Best of luck to all racing at Taupo next weekend !!
