Shane Solomon from Motorcycle Trader seems to have a pretty good job, and I'm sure he has access to plenty of good gear. Why doesn't he wear it when he's reviewing a bike? Hanging off the side of the VFR in jeans and running shoes??? (see the magazine for those pix) Pretty amatuer really. Getting closing to posing more like it.

looks like he is dry humping the tank in the piccie

yup, when i saw the sneakers i thought what a pecker, but i thought the editor was an even bigger pecker, not only for lettin the shots of this guy in poor riding apparell in his publication, but also for the very poor action shots that his holyness has of himself in many an issue

Dont care what he wears, its his skin. The image he portrays though is not the best for young impresionable minds.

Whats next, telling him what sort of bike he can or cannot ride? We are responsible for ourselves and no one else. However in saying that, he could act as some sort of role model. Although if ya have your head screwed on the right way, it should not be needed...:whocares:

solomon obviously doesn't own a pair of boots - testing the hyo 250 this month in sneakers again. not mention the shots look like they have been taken with some pace on, in what appears to be a within town (ie 50k) area. he looks like a clown. an unprofessional clown at that.

i'm all for personal choice, and often ride my scooter with shorts and t-shirt, however being photographed testing a bike, for a national publication, commands some adherance to basic safety compliance

What a git, he is effectively a proffesional rider and representitive for the industry. I know how much I scanned my bike magazines when I was young, took everything in. Wont buy another trader until he gets a clue.

For mine it is completely irresponsible of that mag to produce images like that, and I'll be dropping them an emial/letter to say so. It's fair that the senior and more experienced riders on here will have their own perspectives, and they will take such risks as they see fit. But for the youngsters or even Born Again Bikers that get those mags with a view to getting into the riding scene, it's totally misleading to suggest that that attire is suitable for road riding.
And I've been unlucky enough to see the result of a sports shoe lace getting caught in the chain... I hope none of you get to see it or experience it.
My 2 cents worth.

His choice what he wears and the law only states that you need a helmet to be legal and he is. Have meet Shane and seems a good bloke and good photographer.
There are enough rules now, So will you people stop trying to wrap everyone up in cottonwool. Old saying "Let he who rides decide"

When I get back to NZ, I will mail him one of my pairs of spare boots.
Maybe he will get the message then. :bash:

This is the interweb, we can tar and feather and publish it to the whole world without any possible justification just because we feel like it.
That being said he does look like a twat and should know better.

He was, he had a helmet on. The legal requirement.
Don't go getting all nanny state on us Marty, we're rough, tough bikers.
marty

maybe we shouyld get a nanny state forum, then all the rough tough bikers could avoid it........
i don't give a flying fuck if he's wearing sneakers - i don't care if he'swearing jandals - all i said is that he looks like a tryhard and should project a more professional image.

He's just a guy who works for a bike mag - he's no more special than you or me,don't put him on a pedastal,he's not worth it.I don't think he's going to influence riders to wear sneakers. What about the people we see riding around at supersonic speeds...wheelies and stoppies, dragging knees and doing burnouts - surely they influence an impressionable rider more. Not to mention people who ride around on bikes capable of 300kph - it's obvious the guy must speed and break the law.....
