View Full Version : The Ex

I got a phone call from a gorgeous ex-girlfriend of mine the other day.
We lost track of time, chatting about the wild nights we used to
enjoy together. I couldn't believe it when she asked if I'd like to
meet up and maybe rekindle a little of that magic.
"Wow!" I said, "I don't know if I could keep pace with you now - I'm a
bit older than when you last saw me!" She giggled and said she was
sure I'd meet the challenge! "Yeah", I said, "just so long as you
don't mind a man with a waistband that's a few inches wider these
days!"
She laughed and told me to stop being so silly! She teased me,
saying that she thought tubby men were cute!
"Anyway", "I've put on a couple of pounds myself!" she giggled
So I told her to f**k off.

Nothing wrong with sex with a bag of bones either. Its all down to personal opinion though. I'm not big, and I'm not to little. But I know I'd much rather have a bit more weight on me.

That's because people today have a wrong psyche.
They all want to be "thin" - any person trying to lose weight should never have "become thin" as their goal.
Instead they should think a bit differently and change their goal to "be more healthy or fit".
So now instead of lose 5 kilos a month - their goal should be run for 15 mins non stop by the end of the month - or run 3 times a week.......
Guess what happens when they reach these goals??

It does. You look through magazines and stuff, and just about every female, or male is presented as being the perfect body weight, and having perfect skin.
Sadly younger people don't realize how many of these images have actually been changed and airbrushed to make them look so perfect.

cause they have such low opinions of themselves,

True...do you think it is peer pressure or are men to blame for women having low self esteem.
Most stuff on TV and Media etc does seem to be all about looking good and that you can only be happy if you have a fit bod etc....it must be hard for women.
Just posing the questions.

hmm dunno cause I am not one hung up on looks .. do i take care of myself .. yeah but not to obession state
being that kids (mostly girls) are getting hung up on image from school age upwards ... yes 5 yr olds don't want to be thought of as fat .. girls as young as 9 dieting .. guess its roots start off young, then because its ingrained takes them into adulthood.
of course already having poor body image before meeting someone special does not help .. but then depends if that partner is critical of the way their woman dresses or the aging process can perpetuate it even more.

It is because they have such low opinions of themselves BECAUSE of the Media pressure for eternal youth and because their partners are all caught up in the youth/beauty/image bullshit too! It wont stop until people start to appreciate that gravity always wins and people DO grow old! Just go with it:doobey: Enjoy it! Celebrate it!

Some people are fat and use excuses to persuade themselves that it's ok. Some people are skinny and use excuses to claim they're too fat. Being healthy is a choice and kids need to be given the choice by good education - healthy dietry habits, excercise and good rest. It's about balance.

I agree but in today's society balance is sometimes hard to achieve.....guess you could say that is an excuse, however, kids and healthy habits seem to get lost in what Parents are doing...working.....lack of quality time....not in all cases I know.

peer pressure is huge .. after all you know how kids are .. they think its funny to torment, be mean, cruel, but the effects can be life changing and catastrophic ..
you will do fine with your daughter, listen to her, yes building up her self esteem, & confidence will go a long way to make her independant & happy.

These were about 12-14 years old, make-up so thick they must have used a trowel to apply it and worst of all they were all wearing MINI-SKIRTS and SINGLETS to show off their new Jumper-puppies:gob: I cant believe any decent parent would allow their young teen to trapse around town on a cold winters day wearing next to nothing!
wanna see them @ speedway then .. beginning of season early oct .. blardy cold and they wearing damn next to nothing .. heel, minis, singlets .. if only they realised blokes doing the male bonding, car session .. girls dunna exist while racing is on .. no point dressing to impress esp when you get covered in a layer of clay ... awesome .. free mud pack LOL

I've told my daughter she can go anywhere she likes, with whoever, whenever, at whatever time. And she knows that wherever she is, and whoever she's with at whatever time day or night - I'll be there 3 feet away with a large rusty knife!! And she better be wearing that homespun woollen Eskimo jacket!!
Lmfao ... you make sure it stays that way .. too blardy funny .. guess she does not think it is huh

I'd just like to interject without trying to offend anyone, for a change, but all this self image shit seems to be perpetuated by those who choose to sit and whine about media portrayals and idealism.
Isn't it women who sit and buy the shitty celeb mags? The fact of the matter is that people find healthy looking people attractive, celebrity or not. I'm not fattist or ageist. We all get old but if you are a great big burger munching lard arse that is your choice, don't go whining about the media portrayal of slim and healthy people.
I'm not happy with my physique so I do something about it. I don't believe in dieting but I have no issues with healthy eating being glamorised, and dieting is a pretty subjective topic these days. Does it mean not gorging yourself on shit or not eating at all?
If your self image is so bad that you feel media and peer pressure to change then you've got to ask yourself is it pschological and due to other factors or are you a fat fucker?
If it is the latter then it's probably in your own best interests to address it. I'm not saying you gotta be a waif but don't disparage others for having healthy ideals and appreciating a well oiled machine.

not offending anyone Dover after all we all have our own opinions .. I think the concern is that the whole self esteem can have its roots in childhood and I for one think its damn scary that such young girls are caught up in the fat/thin idealism, My freinds daughter at 6 yrs of age would not eat cause it was not cool to be fat .. even though she is skinny as hell .. now at 11 there are still issues food wise and even though her parents have educated her in healthy eating & exercise, she is very body concious.. & the girl does not have one ounce of fat on her ..
Isn't it women who sit and buy the shitty celeb mags? The fact of the matter is that people find healthy looking people attractive, celebrity or not. I'm not fattist or ageist. It is mostly woman who buy the mags (I prefer crossword books) but also having the portrayal of the airbrushed "perfect" thin as a rail woman pushed as the "ideal shape" is a bit like programming subjective ppl to what is acceptable.
Yes your correct in the fast paced society we live fast food has become the accepted norm, all of that wonderful processed food with additives that assist in gaining weight and supersizing everything these days teaches ppl to eat more even when they are full. I for one am trying to get back to eating a more healthy range of food, & being pretty active the weight is slowly coming off, not really concentrating on losing it either, & everyone does need to take personal responsiblity.
If your self image is so bad that you feel media and peer pressure to change then you've got to ask yourself is it pschological and due to other factors or are you a fat fucker?
If it is the latter then it's probably in your own best interests to address it. I'm not saying you gotta be a waif but don't disparage others for having healthy ideals and appreciating a well oiled machine.
no one disparages checking out a nice bod, hell everyone is going do that
the main point here is the ppl who just see someone who they think is a fat fucker makes crude rude remarks sometimes in their hearing brushes them aside cause it would be beneath them to be seen talking to the said fat fucker, deliberately hurting others feelings cause it makes them feel better, without even giving them a chance to know the personality or the freind they could be .. then you have to wonder if those same ppl who have a child who may be on the "larger" side .. would they just love that child or are they still judgemental and critical and pass that to their child to either live by, or grow up knowing they do not met a set acceptable standard.
either way its disturbing that today's society places huge importance on looks , as it can come from those who are supose to love you unconditionally, peer pressure, media, you name it .. its there
