Both piss me off no end but we do have an off topic section and this is what it's for.Hey some off us even talk about cars, sex, jokes, marriage,Boi fucken racers :killingme ,And other things that have nothing to do with bikes.
Even though I find it impossible to do myself, you don't have to read it.
Yeah some of us get a bit excited but that's only a very small part of any of us.It pays to keep that in mind.

Yeah I don't mind what people talk about in the Rave On thread. Politics, religion all can stay as far as I'm concerned, just doesn't mean I'll read it all and with so many members these days I haven't got the time to read all the postings anyway.

I'll be happy to leave religion alone but the polititians need slagging off on a regular basis.

As you may have noticed, I have decided to stop posting in the Reg. Rav. thread because it is not helping us get on with each other. I recomend for the sake of friendship (yes, Zed, I do think of you as a friend) and harmony, that we all do the same. I jointed this site to learn more about bikes and meet others who ride as well. A bonus has been to meet some of you and to encourage new riders. I don't want to see this lost.

Weren't politics largely driving from religion in any event. Aren't much of the laws were presently must abide by driven from religious common law.....why the fuck can't I go shopping on Easter Sunday? That pisses me off - a prime example of the above - where politics is largely still a vehicle for the delivery of a religious framework for the law......

Anywho - I thought I would get in here before Zed takes this one over and starts preaching his bullshit again

Therefore - this thread is too intrinsically linked to the Religious Lunatic Thread that Zed is running.

Being one of those that has contributed a bit to the religious raving thread I think it's ok to be able to "rave" about things - I mean I think we're all adult enough to just not read things we're not interested in...surely?

I mean if there's a thread about something I'm not interested in I just don't read it - I kinda don't see what the big deal is.

I really enjoy this site b/c we can talk about bikes & other stuff as well.

Cheers Cathy :)

vBulletin in general has a heap of other interests/topics/hobbies
other than this motorcycling site anyway.

I didn't realise, until I did a search the other day after getting sick of
people trying to control what and what not to say and what and what not topics to discuss when there is clearly a "rave on" provision.

I will end up in one of those other sites for different discussions now
and discuss bikes on this one.

As has been stated before we as people are complex individuals with a myrid of interests and convictions that can not be seperated out into little compartments. ( we all like to pidgeon hole people into our clasifications that we have made for them ). For many, religion and or politics form a fundamental base of who we are, bikes being our escape from the daily grind of life. :niceone:

For me, to seperate who I am intrinsically into compartments is next to impossible but I do stick to my rules regarding the posting of my beliefs and convictions, but I can not but be true to myself, so God and what He has done in my life will come out hopefully in a non offensive way but the to some this is highly offensive. It is not my intention to be offensive but real so apoligies in advance to who some have called a zealot but such is life :cool2:

Rock on you guys this is a great site with many fantastic people

As long as the spiritually troubled amongst us can vent in a suitably-labelled controlled environment, then that's OK with me. It's always entertaining to have a look and see where they're up to... At last look they were throwing references at each other! Very grown-up...

Question: If people are so anti religeous / political ravings why are there so many post's let alone hits?

If you no wanna read on after someone spoils a thread do what I do UNSUBSCRIBE from that thread.

I think it would be more constructive to say if you want to go off on a tangent about a political or religeous but off topic point that they should start a new thread and post a link for those who wish to follow. so that those who don't can continue wthout them.

C'mon Andrew, that comment wasn't worthy of you. Robust political debate is a good and necessary thing, but it should be about policies and methods and not personal appearance, surely?

What?

It's just like Telly: If you don't like what's on, change channel.

Limiting topics of discussion would be a disservice to the diverse range of Human Beings populating this site, and as several people have mentioned, "Rave On" seems to be doing the job it was started for.

Censorship = bad. People making a spectacle of themselves in print = educational entertainment.

I would not recommend censorship of the thread as this would lead these "ravings" to continue else where. I do suggust not posting in it as the posting in the Reg. Rav's. just encourages more insults and raving. I am no longer posting it that thread for that reason.
I am, on the other hand, responding directly to the persons concerned (via PM) if they post something purposily aimed at myself, recomending that they do not do so (and I will try not taking a dig at them). If it is something we can both laugh about then that is different.

I agree, it's a good thing having freedom of expression, not having to be pc is a good thing, and as csl says we are all adults here, it's not a crime to have an opinion YET and I enjoy a healthy debate, when it becomes unhealthy I go view another thread, judging the responses to the religious thread most people enjoy putting their 2 cents worth in.

THE QURAN IS CLEAR:
"Forbidden to you (as food) are dead animals, blood, the flesh of swine and the animals on which has been invoked any name other than that of Allah and which has been killed by strangling, or by a violent blow or killed by a fall or that which has been gored to death, that which has been (partly) eaten by wild animal unless you are able to slaughter it in due form, that which is sacrificed on shrines" (5 : 4).
