Reading Automotive today:''The Bugatti veyron has wiped the floor with the opposition in a contest to find the car that takes the least amount of time to go from a standing start to 160km/h and back again. The veyron even managed to beat a GSXR 1000 superbike in the raceoff.Featuring 25 of the worlds fastest cars from the 14th placed aston marton v8 vintage to the 2nd placed ariel atom, the shootout pitches the cars against each other in a straight fight to see which is the fastest to 160kph or 100mph.the veyron with its 740kw(1000bhp)16 cyclinder wasnt necessarily the fav to win.not only was the bugatti faster than the suzuki,it creates more g force at maximum accelaration than you'd experiance from an F16 jet fighter,at take off or when skydiving.WTF??????? IM GETTIN ME A PARACHUTE

What was the time for the Bugatti? And the Gix?

A mag I had a while back had a Gix against a 1000hp Skyline, Pagani Zonda, etc...and the bike was miles ahead in acceleration, but not as good slowing down. Still beat them overall by a comfortable margin.

That Bugatti is a monster though, I'd not be surprised if it beat the Gix.

I just read the article about an hour ago -

GSXR1000 = $19,995
Bugatti veyron = $2,600,000

I think that sorta settles it.

Price aside, still quite an interesting comparison:

Figures are time to 30mph, 60mph, 100mph, reaction time, braking time

Suzuki GSX-R1000 : 1.61 3.30 5.60 0.10 5.10 = 10.70 s

Bugatti Veyron : 1.40 2.80 5.50 0.20 3.40 = 9.9 s

Interesting that the Gix gets from 60mph to 100mph quicker...pity it can't use the power before that...damn physics.

I reckon that the Gix would be the quickest in this test oldguy...

the 14 may be quicker to 100mph, but it would be close.

Braking between the 14 and Gix would be interesting. The 14 being lower and less likely to stoppie, but the Gix being much lighter...would probably still be the Gix that stops quicker.

the bike is limited by its wheelstanding , its a stupid comparo in a way cause 160 kmh is only first gear on a gix and even if the bike had 300hp itll still only accelrate the same to 160 , with no other mods but an extended swingarm the gix time would be reduced alot

It's not so much designed for high speed work, more cornering. I'm not say it's slow (because it isn't) but it hasn't got the top end punch of a litre bike.

Very good point WINJA. Jack Frosts turbo'ed GSXR1000 is slower than a std K5 to 160km/h. Too hard to find the balance between wheelie/wheelspin and good acceleration.

It's today's copy (actual physical paper), I read it at work.

The Koenigsegg is good but is supposed to be a biatch to drive, even the Stig (from Top Gear) found it a handful. Jeremy on the other hand drove the Veyron for an entire day pretty much non-stop accross Europe and found it a lovely drive - He wasn't cruising either.

I'm sure a Moto GP bike is much cheaper than the Veyron - they should have tested that too, if they could find an A1 car.

uh-huh... I class it as sorta like a trike. The comfort/weather durability of a bike, but the splitting ability of a car. It can corner like a bike - for those that can't on a bike :nya:

oi!!!! I never said I wanted a sooki... I'd have the zx10 if anything. :doobey:

Who the hell would want 2.6 mil tied up in a depreciating liability (unless some get crashed - like the mclaren f1). $2.6m would earn a heck of a lot of interest...

No gremlin it won't. IT ain't that great tbh compared to other easier stuff nowadays (not selling drugs).

Anyway, yes the veyron beat the gixxer... good on it, you'd sorta hope so, rather amazing car etc etc. But remember this... that gixxer will keep doing it day in day out for the next 20,000k's, only stopping for oil and clutches, where as that veyron would have bent conrods and pistons all through the bodywork after a few thousand. :second:

Besides, i'd have more fun in the gixxer anyway. And if you mod a bike it will beat that car blah blah.. always something faster eh..

0 - 200kph in 10 seconds. (Can be done much quicker - like 4 secs).
From 1000ft you could do the acceleration and the stop in 10 secs. Slightly messy though.

For sale: parachute. Used once, small stain. Offers.

$5000 dollar spend on wheeliebars and it would be a closer thing. Hey how about a wheelie bar in front to help it under brakes? Would suck to ride but its start and stop times would be good.

$2,600,000 later and its still just a cage. thats 130 GSXR1000's or 1733333.33333 pies. if working at McD's making $8 in the hand in standard week thats over 156 years of work.

but it hasn't got the top end punch of a litre bike.

I'd disagree there, the Veyron would piss on a litre bike in top end punch, and piss on from a great height then most prolly turn around and shit on it as well.

The GSXR may only just edge it out upto a shy over 200kph, the Veyron gets off the line extermly fast hence the slightly quicker time, once the GSXR gets into it's stride it does gain a bit, but man over 200kph and the Veyron will haul the GSXR in with an extreme amount of ease, and when the GSXR is struggling past the 280kph mark the Veyron will still have you back in the seat the same it did at 160kph.
But at the end of the day you're talking about a 400kph plus car that you can buy for less than what it cost to make the thing and there isn't much pratical about a quad turbo 16 cylinder car.

Fcukin cool shit though.

ummm who wants a boring car to drive?!?!

The stig actually puts the new K ccx through a tire wall in the 8th season of top gear! And suggests that part of the reason is the standard models lack of a rear wing, so they (koionginonieniegegcencnegde) take it back slap a nice wing on and give it back to the stig who then sets the lap record of the Top Gear track on it!

And how much fun is a boring non responsive cage????? You want something thats got a little edge if you cant be on two wheels!

I know what I'd rather do,but if I could afford a Bugatti why the fuck would I want to ride a bloody Suzuki?

I went to the unveiling of the Bugatti a couple of years back. I got a robot chubby when they started the thing up. They've had huge production problems which delayed delivery between 12 to 24 months.

What was even better was seeing all the old Bugatti's on display. Now they were cars.

It wasnt a stocker gixxer either... the race bike version.... Upmost respect for the Bugatti putting down 9.9 seconds for the 0-100-0 time... even more impressive is the A1GP's time of 8.8 seconds... I seem to remember the Mclaren GTR doing 0-100-0 in 10.1 seconds which is also fucking fast...

The Bugatti is a work of art... There will never be another car like it, and the price wont ever depreciate on it either... If i had the money i would have one... But since i dont ill stick with bikes, and if i had a little bit spare i would go for a Atom...
