Just saw this at:
http://www.totalmotorcycle.com/2007models.htm

Apparently from Yamaha, there is a (New?) YZF-R6 S???
(See Pics below).

Standard forks (Non-USD) and looks like the old model, circa 2003?
Is this a budget version R6 for 2007?

Is it true, and would you have one?

I don't think this is a repost (did a search 'n all)

Yes it is true. That is the 2005 model with 2004 forks, and is designed to be a more street friendly option for road use. It is currently avaialble in the US as a 2006 model. If I was allowed I would have one as my weekend toy. I love my Z, but sometimes I miss my '04 R6.

they prety much turn the old r6 in to there 'sport touring 600' per say

like the old zx6r(2003) turned in to the zzr600. Due to alot of people wanting a 600, but don't want a balls out racer which the new r6 is

It's funny that the trickest 600's of yesteryear are the 'Sports touring' 600's now.
Truth be told, one of these would probably be plenty for 90% of us sportsbike riders...

...and Cajun's right ~ the new R6 is a track-focussed or weekend weapon.
You'd want to keep the revs up and the engine on the boil all the time.

I thought the S model was 2004. Should be a YZF-R6U or summint now ?

ok the deal is,

YZF-R6 (2006) - The evil looking bitch that revs out like mutt with its nuts cut off.

YZF-R6S - The previous model kept in production as a 'street friendly' (yeh right) option, also marginally cheaper too.

YZF-600 - I think they are still making them, is the 99 R6 engine, detuned a tad, has slightly larger brakes if my memory serves me correct, still looks the same awell.

Mine is a 5EB or YZF-R6L, but that has nothing to do with this conversation.

Not quite. The YZF-R6S is the 2005 model with 2004 "right way up" forks.

The YZF-R6T has been deleted. That had "Upside Down" forks. There were frame, engine map, and obviously fork differences between 2004 and 2005.

The 2004 forks are absolutely gorgeous. No hesitation in buying one if I won lotto, irrespective of forks fitted.
