OMG that sucks man! You have insurance? If not then get looking who in the building has lost a window, then claim on theirs, or the building manager should be able to help you out.

Their public liability insurance should cover your bike - hopefully they have got some. Hope you get it sorted..

Sorry to hear that, NZ-ZX. Hope the building owner's insurance pays for the damages. Good to know you weren't on it at the time.

The people on the ninth floor heard the window go and didn't even bother to see if it had damaged anything or anyone, cocksuckers.
Just waiting for the Building Manager to bother turning up.

UPDATE

Bike was written off! $15k to put back to 'new':gob:

The building managers are refusing to accept liabilty, claiming the incident was an 'act of god':tugger: Apparently it was 'windy and raining' on that day, well fuck me did I miss that category 6 hurricane or do you think that they are trying it on? Anyway can't speak highly enough of my insurers, AMI who basically told them to fuck off and prove it with weather reports etc.

Anyway, as someone pointed out I seized the 'window' of opportunity and have gone and bought a new one today - let you know what it is later...

So when you go around and fire bomb their building....

" oh god came to me in a dream and said it was to be done. Not my fault sorry!"

Load of bullshit when insurance companies have these little cluases to back out on!

Thats bullshit, go to the small claims court.
thankfully he obviously doesn't have to due to having insurance, the insurance company gets to do all the leg work and chasing

I followed this whole thread waiting.... waiting ... for the key sentence.

Act of God. Soon that will be the excuse for knocking riders off their bikes too. ' I saw the hairy son of Satan on his evil steed and.... it was an act of God'... Good Luck but I hate to think what would have happened if you had got your timing wrong. I suspect this may drag on a bit though.

How many other buildings lost windows in that storm?

Doesnt appear to be the case in the above newspaper article.Different incident. The ODT article is about a Toyota Hilux, a 6th floor window, State Insurance and a guy from Dunedin.

It mustn't be negligent to have pieces of your building fall off then according to their insurance company. I never will stop thinking insurance companies are jsut a bunch of thieves.

I'm no expert but an entire new paint job, decals, labour and whatever other bits you need replacing on a 9 year old bike, it could run close to a financial right off, I wonder what the insurance company will say.

18th July 2006, 11:48
Hmm you would think that they would want to shut you up as quickly and quietly as possible. Surely this would be a matter for OSH to deal with.
I maen if one window went who is to say more wont?

Bike has been written off.

'Window Experts' are supposed to be looking at what if anything caused the window to break/fall out. 12 days on and it still hasn't been looked at. Had a discussion with the building managers today who said that 'if' they can find a reason for the breakage etc then a claim can be made. If however no reason can be determined then it's classed as an 'act of god', and I'll go kicking and screaming to the media. I have not only lost my excess but also my no claims bonus, meaning that the quote for my new bike has nearly doubled:gob:
