Nah man, don't listen to them, as long as you know you look like a twit and take it on the chin. you'll be the coolest thing to hit the track since that snow you just had.

You gonna get a metallic pink helmet like I am to go with it?

Brought them for $175 off trademe, I thought the white was just white, not white with funny squiggles all over it. Must have been pretty cool back in 1990?!

I don't mind though, who cares when you are blasting around the track on a 125 honda, it will save me when I fall off.

Less money I spend on the flashy looking leathers the more money I can spend on performance!

Oh yeah, shame he didnt get the fluoro pink acid worms like this punter is wearing, second photo down. Yip, Carl Fogarty as a privateer wearing his Feildsheers. He won the 1992 World Superbikes at Donnington as a privateer that year. http://www.sportnetwork.net/main/s180/st73363.htm

Another set, seen here! http://www.sportnetwork.net/main/s180/st73169.htm

ok so ummm.

There are people, people who can help you..

These people are Leather Dyers!!! For around $100 dollars i believe, you could have a half respectable black set of leathers....

Although that green mint color is supposed to be all the rage in the chetland islands.. just ask Dover.

ROFLMAO! I would try to answer the question but too many smart arse replies keep coming to mind and making me laugh. lol. I gotta say, I respect your sense of humour.
Seriously though, the pose is just WRONG!
If you can race better than those pictures say you can pose then you should be OK, just be prepared for some serious ribbing from everyone who sees them. I would personally have them dyed before being seen in public.
Good luck with the racing man

Dude, respect. Wear that kind of shit with pride. You know what? I guarantee those leathers are unique on the road in the country these days. In my opinion the coolest people are the ones who aren't slave sheep to the metrofag fashions. Go hard, and make the leathers and KB proud in your racing.

I actually bought a set of two piece (off Frosty I think before I knew him) I've still got them, but I think they are from the eighties, they are my backup set, I'll put em on and take some pics and add them to this thread at some stage.

oldrider
13th July 2006, 23:37
As long as the leathers do their job and protect you who cares what they look like. ( I'm afraid they are not a good look)
If you have the guts to wear them around for their safety value and ignore their appearance, I would say you have what it takes to be a champion.
All you have to do is match it with racing skills and your there!
Good luck with your racing.
Your favourite song must be "A boy named Sue" by Johnny Cash. :blip: Cheers John.

BTW: your points are rd1= 0/0 (cos ya wernt there)... rd2= 0/5 (cos ya had a DNF and a 14th which isnt too bad for the 1st time out, Johnnyboy was 13th in that race.

Ahhh bless the 80's... I remember when bikes and leathers starting get pastel coloured designs.
Thanks for reminding me of my lost youth with those leathers.
But just be a wee bit careful where you wear them these days. We have perhaps not progressed on from those revolutionary days...

I think you are my new hero!! Good on you for buying what you could afford to be safe while racing! And as was said, just have a little laugh to yourself as you hoon past the guys that gave you shit about your leathers.
I like to think of Billy Connolly with his funny pants. He says they are asshole detectors. You walk into a room and someone says "oh man, what's with those hideous pants", you know instantly they're an asshole!
Go hard mate!

True. But if they said "I was so disturbed by the visual horror before me that I was compelled to destroy it to protect the general public from its unrelenting horror" (or words to similar effect), I doubt if any jury in the land would convict them.

Well I had to open my big mouth, and offer to pose in my '80s leathers. So I decided today that I could do it, and I could hopefully beat Tyger's pose. But I'm afraid that my leathers look nowhere near as funny as his, but still good.

Here you go.

P.S. I knew you left one important thing out of your poses Tyger. That was the guns.

Hey, I got retro leathers that I just raced in at manfeild and Pukekohe nationals. Dad's old ones, Circa 1984...they were great!! So many people made comments like you got TT, but it certainly got noticed...and the more people thinking bout my retro leathers rather than racing, the better!! the classic stuff......
