Yep, already seen that one, that particular bike would only be good for parts on an existing GT road / race bike, as suggested in the ad.

Bent forks and god knows what else has been done to the frame and replacement parts take about two months from Korea and aren't cheap unless you know the right people (korea, export, kawasaki mark up, dealer mark up, etc).

Was told by Mt Eden yesterday that Kawasaki are considering not bringing in the naked model anymore, only the fully faired. However, if they do continue with the naked, the price is going to go up $1,000.

That bike is a good price if anyone wants parts though ...

You could probably make $4,000 - $5,000 in parts selling them off.

Can you race a Hyosung 650 in F3?

SwanTiger
13th July 2006, 13:45
Yes of course you can, it's the same as an SV 650, however the Hyosung is rated with 1 more HP than the SV.

I'm aware of a few bikes racing now, two in New Zealand, one in Europe and one in the United States. There are probably more when you consider what the bike has to offer - a lot of bang for buck.

Yes you can, already being done down here by Geoff Cain, it doesn't do to badly and it's a stocker

I understand that the Hyobag 650's racing in F3 down south are absolutely cleaning up. Maybe just rumor. There is a guy in Levin with a black 650R that was at a trackday recently with tyre-warmers and the lot. Was quite serious about it and was making up glass moulds for the fairings.

1 extra horse, but how many added kilo's?

They got a steel frame! Having said that, I am only speculating, and steel still works for those awfull italian piles of shit.

Bottom line, my two cents aint worth shit.

Goodnight

The 2006 SV 650 is 165kg and the 2006 GT 650 is 180kg (information sourced from bikez.com, so I'm not sure of its accuracy).

Maybe they'd rather do something different than just being one of the sheep and following everyone else, wouldn't suprise me if we end up seeing a few more on the track in the next year or so

It would be interesting to see just why Geoffs blew up

This is what a real Hyosung GT650R racer looks like. It's a US Cup Racer, and it's been bored out and re-sleeved to 744cc. I've got all the information.
So, what sorta horsepwer? Only 155bhp.

What manner of US Cup would this be? Not the Auld Mug.

Doesn't qualify for Bears or F3. Besides Frostys bike almost makes that and its only a 650.

Seriously I think a Hyosungs better than a normally aspirated SV in standard form. The airbox doesn't sound like its as restrictive and your not allowed to modify it here in NZ. Even the air filter must stay as standard. But stupidy you can do whatever and spend as much as you want on the motor (to keep this entry level class cheap).

If Frostys bike "almost "made that sort of HP he'd be beating all the 600 feild and a lot of the 1000cc bikes, I would doubt it is getting into triple figures

Notice I said Seriously after that sentence and stopped talking bullshit.

Frostys bike makes (used to make) around 80hp at the wheel.

The GT650 does qualify for the new 650 twins class, and in the US they have a Superstock Lite class. Here's the reply I got when i made enquiries regarding the Hyosung racers:

The 744 would be limited to formula extreme and
superbike We can detune the machine to a limit within
AM but please let me know the spec you are within. We
will sell to you direct on racers sponsorship price if
you provide a valid race liscense. Please ley me know
what you are requesting, we will send price outline,
and ship details, short of building the machine for you
complete here in the states.

Thanks Tj

They have a huge selection os custom made parts for Hyosung GT650R's which can be viewed here:

Here's a closeup of the front calipers and carbon fibre rim, as well as the racing brake lever:

Like buy a set of our carbon fibre rims and we throw in a Hyosung at no extra charge.
