I upgraded to the Triumph from a YZF 600 because......
a) it was time, i had the yammy for 7-8 months
b) riding two up, i needed more power
c) i like blue
d) and the sound it makes.......... yummy
e) it was way affordable

I haven't bought a GSXR - it'll depend on what money I have. And even then I probably won't get a GSXR coz of the fit.
Looking at a RF900 or ZZr110 or similar - coz I won't have to get anything specific done to them (I'll fit them straight off)
Last bike I had was a LS650 Savage - I bought that coz of the price (and doubled my money when I sold it)

Got to say, I really like the Triumph, tripple is nice, but not faired, so don't know how much I would truely enjoy it, the Daytona 955i is a really nice looking bike.
Colapop, good on ya, not many can say that!

Got the Tazer cos i hated my life and wanted to go fast again.
Plus i couldnt stop smilling after riding it - its the first bike that did that to me. I dunno about the new 955i - it was alot sportier ride than the old one i felt. But i dont like being so low anymore

"04" R1, Plenty of controlable power and nice and light to throw around on the tight sections. I think its the safest in its class and its the sexiest bike ever made.

Bought a new Z1000 , Why? because kawasaki rocks!
Seriously though had me a 900 Hornet 2 years ago and binned it, in doing that I also bust me spine. That really put the 'willys' into me as to how close I came to never being able to ride again, anyways I now live with extra screws and plates. Makes you stronger they say.
Them 'willys' told me I need to slow down,(Hell no I won't give up riding) so out I went and bought me an S83 cruiser, sure was good fun for almost a year. Then I found myself pushing it's limits and we all know cruisers can't handle and can't brake, so in effect I was actually worse off than riding a sprots or semi sprots bike minus the speed factor, but hey cruisers can get up there
So to get myself out of harms way I traded the old lady in and bought me a young slapper! :scooter:

Hence the high straight speed (and noise) and slow corners?????
Wouldn't think having a wheelie competition with Patch would constitute conservative riding though.
I must say, it is a nice bike tho!

Nicer ride and power delivery

Wasn't exactly having a competion, but must say that I almost wheelied onto his pillion seat when he suddenly slowed down!
But hey we won't hold riding riding a suckme against him!
As for slow corners well lets just say I ain't too fast on unknown or first time around virgin corners!
The noise welll that just makes it all the more appealing( guess I'm just a boy racer at heart):first:

mmm, didn't realise it was a multi-choice, so add 1 onto the upgrade part as well :wait:
Upgraded from a zzr250 to my current zx7r in January. Why, because I could. Bikes that made my final cut were the zx6r, zx7r and gsxr 600 and 750, all from mid to late-ish 90s. I didn't choose the gsxr, as I felt the headlight looked flippin ugly. Didn't choose the zx6r as it felt peaky, and I knew in time I would end up demanding a lot from the bike, so went with the zx7r.
The zx7r has a fantastic front end, and mine has an ohlins rear shock and braided lines, so bar being set correctly, its got the goods in that department. Torque is strong, and it can pull (just) from below 2k. Basically, just an awesome bike, that when you ride it hard, asks to be ridden harder.

Used to be the same, but traded her in for a slightly less (mentally) damaged model.

I want to understand why,
Boomer hit the nail on the head.
The GSXR sells more, cause everyone who buys one rights the first 1 or 2 off.
Blackbird
14th July 2006, 11:13
Blackbird. Purchase criteria: Had to be capable of decent 2-up journeys but able to be ridden like a sports bike when solo. Had to have 300km+ range as I hate stopping for gas. Had to have heaps of mumbo. Proven reliability - motor good for well over 200000 km without significant work. Finally, I liked its looks.
Downside: A little too much weight on the wrists on a long haul, but not a really serious problem at present, just an annoyance. Replacement bike will probably be a new Yamaha FZ1 if the wrist issue does become a problem. However, this isn't on the immediate horizon as I spend a lot of time choosing a bike, then keep them for a long time.

OK, after 67 voters, most new bikes was GSX (18), behind other, but given other is everything else.....?
Considering only 5 out of everyone admitted that they bought a new bike to replace the one of the same make they binned, leads me to think......
In that case you probably wont get too much info from the Gixxer riders on here. They only seem to clock up a few kms, then they are back to the shop to get a new one after they have sent it down the road without them.:nya:

Got the Aprilia after the RF got taken out by a u turning cager.
Wanted a V Twin, tried the VTR & SV and nearly got an SV but then took out the Aprilia & it does it all so much better than the VTR & SV .

Had the TL, but age, milage on that verses great price on a brand new SV made the decision. Abosolutely adore the SV and its gorgeous in black, with Yoshi's on, its got the right sound too. Very happy:yes:

Got a 98 GSX600 back in 2001 as it was my first bike after a long lay off (Due: Accident). Held onto it for a couple of years and then UPGRADED to a 92 CBR 600.
20 more ponies, and 20 kg less makes a huge difference. Not to mention it is a trusty Honda.
