View Full Version : Wellington: Wgtn Lunch 17 July

If no-one else wants to start this thread I will.
After last week we had comments like how about we try again Monday 17 July, and how about somewhere else (ie. cheaper)? but central.
I've suggested on other threads how about Stanley Road corner Willeston and Victoria Streets (near BNZ "State" tower) - that's real central between us dudes in the Lambton precinct and those down the Manners end. Pies are on the menu, but its not a pub. If you'd all prefer a drink as well suggest somewhere else and we'll see what consensus is.
I'll put it in my calendar so see you then. Let's call it 12pm sharp so we grab some tables - others can drift in as they can make it.

Stanley Road's pies are the BEST in town. Sounds great to me Merv.

This thread seems a bit slow so far when we are talking about next Monday but if you were to suggest a lunch up your end of town the week after where would you want to go? So maybe next week you get the next thread started and see what interest there is.

There's Brooklyn and La Affare real close. Other than that Cuba/Dixon Street area... Don't normally go out to lunch.
Is every Monday too soon? Maybe monthly?

OK you set it up and invite us next week for the week after. Maybe me and Jim2 can come to your one as well.
As for weekly, it was just at the last one the feedback was yeah let's do this again next week. Maybe resposne here proves that was not so!
Hawkeye should come at least to meet a couple of us.

L'affaré is absolutely mental at lunch time. Brooklyn is, from memory, a bit better but not by much. Brooklyn also has a couple of huge tables, so maybe we can wing one of those.
I reckon monday is too soon too.
Dave
I'm in ...... yeh stanly road is good, and you can hear stuff going on.

OK, any suggestions as to a good place in the Cuba/Dixon area?
Brooklyn and La Affare are too busy (as mentioned before) and too far from Lambton area.

Time to give this thread another nudge. Its tomorrow we are talking about lunch at Stanley Road. See you all there from 12pm.
After the Last Hurrah we'll all have plenty to talk about and tell some stories of our own.
Hitcher, Hawkeye, Velox - haven't heard from you - are you going to be able to make it? Got to eat lunch somewhere.

Yeah be nice to chat to you Hawkeye seeing we missed you last time. Can you post a pic to be sure in case we don't recognise you if you're not in a suit?
There is a biggish table at Stanley Road near the door with bar stool style seats - if I'm first there I'll grab that one if I can.

I haven't been to Stanley Rd - is it the place where the fountain/waterfall sculpture used to be behind the BNZ centre foodcourt?
merv
16th July 2006, 11:55
Stanley Road is on the North West side of the Victoria-Willeston Street corner over the road from the BNZ building.

Only just looked on KB now....
Okey dokey - see you guys at 12(ish) - whenever I can find where this place is!
Merv, you're prob not getting such a big response cause I don't think people aren't on KB as much on the weekend and it's only posted three days out. There'll be people that won't know it's even happening!
Cheers for organising it though!

Velox, see you then. Easy to find, just opposite the BNZ tower one block over from Lambton Quay on corner of Willeston and Victoria Streets. I started this thread when the other thread had people suggesting we meet again the following week but no-one else was starting a thread.
So everyone, don't forget the lunch from 12 noon today.
He looks more like this in his bike gear....
Oi! where did you get my photo from?

There's a bike park practically next door Skelstar, just outside the BNZ foodcourt, or over the road outside POD.

If you turn up and do a reasonable facsimile of the Ashley Simpson "I'm a fucktard" dance I'm sure we can do a collection and buy you a pie.

Dunno about Ashley Simpson but I can do a great imitation of Vicki from Little Britain...
Crisis averted, managed to find some $$. Bring on the pies!!! :D

OK thanks to all those that turned up - once again we got a pretty good turnout and even Hawkeye managed to find us so good to see that man. Now can my figure stand this and the other weekly lunch I do every week? Yeah sure, maybe I have to have salads occasionally or else I won't fit my 1975 leathers any more.
Over to you now Skunk to set up the other end of town meeting - saw Brendan from Sawyers at the "Last Hurrah" last night - could be worth inviting him if you get a chance as he might be able to escape his shop customers for a while if you twist his arm.
