Easily, try a look on trademe.co.nz, KDX200 is a good user friendly bike and fits in that price bracket, easy to hot up when you decide you want more power to.

A KDX200 just got 2nd in the NZ Cross Country Champs.
So they're quite capable in the right hands as well.
XR Hondas are always a good bet too.

i just got myself a 1988 xr250 $1800.00.It's in very good condition.I will be using this on the beach, trying out power slides and falling off.
We don't know your age size or experiance, but I'd definatly go for as light as possible - no bigger than 250.The KDX200 would be the best 200 out there alright, but this is a serious bike that is capable of winning National Champs,I dunno if you'd want to learn on one,but then again you may think it's wimpy. All the 2 stroke enduros are built for the experianced rider and can go like stink - can you?
The XR250 was the bench mark right up to the late 90s,can't go wrong there, getting a good one for your price range could be difficult. The DRs and TTs felt heavier and sluggish in handling to the XR,but are still a good bike.I really like the water cooled KLX250,but 3 grand is the bottom limit for these.Of the 4 stroke 200s the XR is the more fun,but let down by the drum brake,a disc DR200 would be a nice bike.
I've seen a few interesting bikes on TradeMe that would suit me - MX bikes with XR200 motors. That way you get top of the line handling and suspension with a user friendly motor - recently there has been a YZ with an XR200 and a CR125 with the same, perfect I reckon.
This is on TradeMe today - disc brake DR200,that'd be choice,go for it!

um well, im a pussy :o . My workmates got a kdx220, I reckon 220ccs of 2 stroke will more than be enough for me
I like this one too, most likely not as radical as a KDX200,probably more comparable to the KMX200 which was a poser street KDX for the Jap market.I'd like to give it a try though.
