View Full Version : A cage tried to kill me...

I know bikers tend exaggerate a lil bit and say that cagers are all out to get us but this guy.... man...
I was tootling along out of Flagstaff (Hamiltron) and pulled up at a T intersection to turn left. It has two lanes one for people turning left, one for people turning right. I'm in the right hand tyre track of the people turning left lane. The 4x4 that had been following me quite closely pulls up to the left of me, winds down his window and yells a stream of incoherent neanderthal speak to which I reply with my middle finger. He yells some more as I ride off somewhat puzzled. Not quite sure what that was all about, maybe it's because I was only going 60 in a 50 zone ...hmmm anyways.
He follows me and stays right up my ass even though I overtake a few people he keeps following me.
I get to Gordington, enter the 70 zone and slow right down to 70. Naturally he takes it upon himself to pull up along my left side, he looks at me and starts moving over towards me and starts physically pushing me and my bike with his 4x4 into the oncoming traffic. Fuck that. I brake and let him go.
I was kinda mad so followed him for about 50km watching him drive like a retard overtaking other people in some rather stupid places. I'm not sure if it was to get away from me or if that's the way he normally drives.
Anyways if you see a grey 4x4, rego number WN7798 it may pay to stear well clear of this moron.
Aside from that it was actually a damn fine ride, starting to find my zone a lot quicker now

Go to the cop shop and lay a complaint, that was attempted murder maybe a call form the police will sharpen his act! In the states you would be able to reply with deadly force !

What the hell?!
I agree with Saslex. You've got his rego and everything. There is no way he can justify those sort of actions. There is nothing you can do that should make a cage think think that it's their right to push you into traffic (i.e. try to kill you).
People like this need to be taken off the road.

If I see a cop in those 5 seconds I would ride straight to them and report the cage.
I'm pretty sure a cop will be able to tell whether you're lying as you won't be able to hide your excitement/fear/anger in the heat of the moment.

Exactly why I refuse to give a physical address when I register a car or motorbike..........I have a nut job ex so its the only way to stop her finding where I live.
Also if you have flash wheels it would pay to do the same, hence why at car shows people remove number plates so the little crims cant case your car at show and pay you a visit later

Well that's risky - as that person will get your mail (letters saying your rego is due, etc) and since they have your rego details they can easily report you for providing false info.

I used to just provide a postal address but now they insist on a physical address.
As far as I'm concerned they are providing confidential information which goes against the privacy act. Most people can't be arsed to say they getting someone elses mail, especially a rego reminder. If there is a police reason that they need to get hold of you they will have my correct details on my license.
Also ask people that didnt take these precautions with their pride and joy and come home to find it gone. Had a woman in my office few years back that owned an original 05 Brock Commodore, had been personally signed a number of times when he would come over to host that cop show. They get home one day car is gone, they recon the guys spent 4-5 hrs getting it going. One possible reason for knowing where it was, was that the car was registered to that address.
Another example ring up a mates employer when he's not at work and ask for his home number, chances are you wont get it as it breeches the privacy act if they do. A classic one is when you are dealing with IRD they will never give you their surname to refer to in corespondance as that info could lead to someone tracking you down for being a nasty little taxman.
Examples are endless yet some crim can go to a post office and pay $2.75 and get my info

Go here if you want to find out all the details about the vehicle. $25 and you have it all. Name address, phone number etc.
I used it to locate the bastard who pinched my work van. They dumped the vehicle but took the credit card and used it. It really pissed me off so I did some of my own investigating. One of the shops they used the card was suspicious of them and noted their vehicle rego.I Gave all the info to the police...I dont think they did anything about it tho. No one arrested etc :-(
I heard somewhere that you can change the ownership details of someone else vehicle quite easily too. Not sure if this true or not. You could really piss someone off doing that.

Photo the area of the bike he hit. There is likely to be paint left along this.
Go to the copshop and file a report asap. Some cops out there are bikers, some are human and by god they get so worked up.
I had this happen to me a couple of months ago. I took down the wrong rego though, so they couldn't do anything about it.The cop who listened to me was bright red with rage and I was worried he'd break the keyboard as he filed the incident report.
What this guy did was illegal, and you could have been killed. Only your skills at staying upright and braking stopped you from being mincemeat. Tell the police and let them deal with the fucker. And if they don't, there is higher up that you can go.

as that other fella said, never know what they might be on, P'd up to the eyeballs, or 'going to jail for life already' murderous intent
As soon as it happens, *555 them. then if any patrol cars are in the area they will pull him over
You can now file bad driving reports online, so its mandatory!
if hes driving like that, theres every chance your not the only one pissed at his lack of driving etiquette. they keep a history of complaints etc so they all add up, not sure how many it takes to get a visit from the plod?
1st complaint -he'll get a letter AFAIK ( i did lol)
2nd or 3rd complaint -maybe get a visit? maybe a bit optimistic
(they are after all very busy filling those quotas!)
if you want it investigated for pressing charges/taking them to court you must make a formal complaint at a police station.

I had someone do this to me recently but I was in a car at the time! I was sitting behind him in a line of cars and when the first passing opportunity came up I expected him to go as he was right on the tail of the car in front of him, but he just sat there, so when the next straight came up I pulled out and overtook him and the car directly in front of him. He was obviously pissed off at this so he immediately overtook and sat on my tail. Each time I overtook a car he pulled out with me, even on a couple of occasions where there really wasn't room for two cars to get into the gap I was moving into. He even pulled out on yellow lines to ensure he was right behind me again. I was driving into the sun so couldn't easily see his rego or I would have reported him because he was freaking me out. It's not like I overtook him dangerously or prevented him from overtaking.
Let's face it, some people are psychos and no matter what we do, they will try to kill us!
As for those community road watch forms, bit of a waste of time if you ask me. I've filled out several online and in one instance, because it was dusk and the van looked white to me (it had no lights on so it was hard to tell) and I found out later it was actually pale grey, they wrote to me saying that I had got the details wrong and as the details didn't match the rego, they could not take any further action. We even stopped in at a cop shop once to lay a complaint about a moron in a BMW who was overtaking on double yellow lines and using oncoming passing lanes even when there were vehicles trying to legally overtake coming towards him, and all we got was the same response - "we have spoken to the driver and as he's promised NEVER to do it again, we slapped him on the wrist with a wet bus ticket and sent him on his merry way". I rarely bother now. I rang *555 to report loose gravel on a blind corner (I lost control on it and was lucky to stay on the road - unlike the poor bugger whose car was already in the ditch) and yet it was a week before anything was done about it and in the meantime there weren't even any warning signs put out. I saw heaps of cops driving back and forth on that road yet none of them did anything to ensure people were warned.

Personally I wouldn't use the website above. This is aimed at dobbing in the guy who ran a red light, was speeding, scared an old granny etc. Don't get me wrong - these can be dangerous activities, but this guy was acting with INTENT to harm or kill you.

Dangerous, but so satisfying when you stick it to em.

beem, i had some young guys fly past me as i was heading into bulls one day...double yellow lines, with a passing lane on the other side with a truck making use of it. i was doing about 105k, give or take [downhill, so may have been faster] and they just whipped right past me. i nearly jumped off the other side of the bike, cos i was not expecting it, and certainly didnt expect the well-off looking geezers behind them to do the same!
turns out there was cops just inside bulls, so i stopped and reported both vehicles, they said "well radio ahead and they will try and get them" yeh right.

Tis possible, in this highly taxed age, that he was wanting to use you as an "advance guard". I have in the past allowed people travelling faster than I to take the lead while I sat in behind them, using them as an early warning system if you will. I do a fair bit of open road driving/riding and see it fairly regularly amoungst other drivers as well. You can wind up with 3 or 4 cars all wanting to push along at a reasonable pace, yet no one wants to be the first car. They all hang back and juggle positions (especially on the new Waikato expressways) hoping someone else will take "point duty".
Perhaps this was the other drivers intention and he was just being overly defensive of his position in behind you. Note that I am not justifying his driving, merely offering an alternative to the "he was pissed at you" theory.

Yes i do this as well, IF on a dirty main highway and without electronic counter measures it is unwise to go too quick BUT if someone passes me I join on to his tail and keep pace

I take offence to that action by the cop, as a trailing vehicle you have to spend more time concentratring on the person in front in case of braking them seeing a hazard and reacting before you etc
also it is human nature to follow the person in front, and since he is the one setting the pace it is him who is doing the worst and he should be the one being targeted! If I was pulled I would ask why he did not pull the guy in front?!

I don't what it is with some cagers, trying to kill bikers and all. Cause the other day i was following one and he pulled over to the left while indicating left opposite this turn off, with me thinking that if I was on a faster bike i wouldve been able to pass the guy as he had been going 90 the whole way. then he decides to turn right, while hes still indicating left! lucky for me i had slowed down behind him, just incase he was, i dunno, blind!

*555's all shit, My wife and I were coming back from St Lukes last Thursday night after a movie heading home on the N'Western to Whenuapai and a $wd was varying it's speed between 80 and 130, using alot of road to keep pointing in the right direction, we called *555 and started talking to them, during the conversation the driving got worse scraping the centre barrier then over to the bus lane/shouder and turning so hard we didn't get to close 'cos I thought it would flip. They nearly hita few people and we followed them to Taikata Road, Te Atatu peninsular and noted down the drive they went into. This had taken 20 minutes and the car was pretty distinctive two tone, plate given to the call centre too and #13, Sam Reihana in yellow on the rear window. I was driving and my wife was talking on the mobile, we waited in the shops nearby to direct the cops who we thought would have been interested to the correct house. Call the *555 operator back and get told no-one can respond, I thought they might actually be telling the truth cos if I was a cop and I could knock on someones door, have them answer drunk and feel their car was still hot there is a good chance of getting someone actually dangerous (probably not locked up) but let them know it's not on. Getting back on the Motorway there is a highway car 200m north of the Te Atau offramp!! I called *555 back and told them there was a car there and was it responding? They said highway cars don't respond to that type of call!! If he'd gone by them doing the same I bloody hope that he'd get pulled over so whats the difference if I call it in? Next time I get stopped for splitting I'm going to head off the motor way and see if they carry on following. I know there are highway cars and I cars and cdi and all the rest for a reason but when theres a sworn officer 2 minutes from a dangerous situation and they don't respond I find it real hard to not vent my frustration when the cash grabbers try to do me for 120 on a clear sunny day and I'm stone cold sober.

I normally stop and be polite and take my medicine, I've been making it way too easy! Thats the problem, they should have to work for their money like eveyone else. Last time I reported a seriously drunk driver, it took ages to get through on *555. When I pointed out how long I had been waiting I was told by the operator that in these cases I should ring 111 as they would class that kind of driving as an emergency........go figure

*555 is to dob people in, ie if some ruffian cut you off and you want to get satsifaction by telling on him. It isn't an emergency police line.
If people's lives are in danger phone 111.
From the police website:
Calling *555
*555 should be used to report general traffic incidents via mobile phone. It is not an emergency number. In the event of a serious, time critical traffic emergency, dial 111.
