Front rim choice

ok need some help looking to put a 17 instead of a 16 on the front :yes: now for the hard part i still want to run my spedo so need a rim that would still run the spedo was thinking a vfr or somthing along the lines of that . any idea what would suit

No doubt someone will prove me wrong, but i think if you want an acurate speedo reading the easiest way would be to get a speedo that belongs to the bike you rob the 17" rim from...

Think most people run CBR600 wheel. Later ones for correct size discs I guess. Do a google on it & you will find a Blade site in the UK or where ever.

So won't the Blade have a gearbox driven speedo and not front wheel driven?

So no worries unless you are changing the back wheel or the gearing.

go to the shop and pull the 130 and 120 off the shelf youll see the are almost identical heights 120/70 and 130/60 i think , i used an nc30 wheel in the 94 on model but that speedo ran off the sprocket

thanks F5 Dave and Merv i will look out for a 600 front rim just the 92 are bloody front wheel speedo :gob: i could always put on a push bike speedo and tell the cops to go and jump as my speedo toped out at 80k :blip:

What about GPS, does anyone know if they count as legal for a speedo as far as WOF goes because they are accurate unlike other speedos and don't care about wheel size?

Here's mine on the VFR. Set it to the big numbers and its easy to read, though I usually have it on the map page with speed just as a small reading at the top.

I have a bit of info you might find useful about 17" rims that are a straight swap for the standard 16" blade wheel, I'll send it in a pm.

i didi it to my 98 blade , fitted a vfr800 wheel it went streight on ,just hade to chnge discs , got it from an Oze bike wreaker , you can use cbr400, cbr600, vtr1000 three spoke and vfr750 wheels with little mods to them , why do you want to change, as its nort worth the money youll pay , there is still a good range ive sticky 16 out there, as i converted mine back to 16 when i put a single sided swingarm on it from a 96 vfr750, as it was to slow in the steering
