View Full Version : Drove a car again, very weird

Cars are boring! I just drove a car again, for the first time since I got my bike license a couple of months ago.
Corners, you just drive around them, there's no lean, no fun, no sensation in a car.
And everything seemed so slow too, I found myself going 70 in a 50 zone, because everything seems so static in the car. It's like sitting at the kitchen table and turning a wheel.
And when bikers drove past in the opposite direction, I wanted to wave, hey I'm one of you too!

Mind you, you can't take a metric ton of rubbish to the dump on a motorcycle.

Biking; I am totally hooked.

Trust me, when you get a car that can handle well, it will shit on your bike. Test drive an atom, you'll see what I mean.

Thats a bold statement to make!
and a true one

My brother years ago imported a 500 cube v8 and stuck it in a falcon, holley, cams etc, I had a gsx750ex at the time and thought, no chance.

Well long story short, I paid him money in a rolling start and he paid me back for a point to point with corners. An atom goes around corners quciker than any prod bike.

True oh very true, the Atom is the dogs danglies similar fun to the
Westfield X2:blip:.

Could never beat my TVR for grin factor though (400bhp at the rear wheels), went like stink handled like a bag of runny shit in the wet.

Bike are cars have an equal place, horses for courses me thinks.

Alfa Romeo GTV 1979.

couldn't afford to keep it

t'was Alfa 75 also known as an Alfa Twin spark.
Was the last of the rear wheel drives, with the trans axle gear box in the back, and a near perfect 50/50 balance ...

Weighted in at 900 kgs without me sitting in it, so was a good competitor to anything with 4 wheels on the road, even though the body, in typical italian styling, was held together by the rusty bits.

top speed of 140 ish mph

Variable cam timing, so it would rev until the head blew off, and pulled all the way to 8k.
anything below 7k, you could drop a gear, tap the right foot, bring the revs up to 7 1/2 ish, and step the back out ...

damn I miss that car

The post maybe should have been

After riding a bike that i can afford to own, cars that i can afford to own are boring.....

I had a blat in a bmw m5 a couple of months ago. Fastest 4 door production car. It gave me some serious grin factor that I've only really experienced on bikes since I started riding..... Only 50 times more expensive than my bike though....

I had to drive a big stationwagon WLG-Waiouru a couple of months ago. Only ridden on the open road the previous year - since getting my bike. (partner normally does all the driving) I was a bit worried about it beforehand - what a joke!!
After riding at 100k+ driving was a breeze. My only problem was trying to stay anywhere near the speed limit, 130k felt like 80k, never have I been so at risk of getting a ticket. Every time I checked the speedo I was at least 20k over.

And getting stuck behind all those cage drivers going 90K, on straight empty roads, and not being able to overtake they way you can on a bike.

Riding certainly improves your driving skills and awareness!

I used to love cars too but now I just can't go past the feeling I get on a bike. Grin factor counts for so much.

Another car I would like to drive would be the new audi the one with 400bhp :D it looks so good and if its anything like the older TT it would handle like an itlian(sp).

Mine soon to have 350-370bhp (give or take) and an uprated racing Tiptronic chip...does that count ?

Wifey wouldn't let me get another 2 seater sports car, becoz apparently we have to have a family !!!!

There's still a few bang for buck cars around but my bike still does it for me every time. Riding is so much more fun.
