View Full Version : Greetings (lee)
Thought I'd just say a quick hi to you all. Not sure how popular this will make me, but I've just found out I'm moving to New Zealand some time soon from England. However, I will be bringing my gixxer with me and intend to do as much riding as possible as there is no way I would leave it behind (don't understand how anyone could move to somewhere so beautiful and sell their bike before they arrive!). Been riding for 6 years now, had a duke 750ss first, then moved onto gixxers, had a 600 and 2 750's (best bike in the world). The obvious thing now is to ask about events and specifically trackdays over there. I've been looking at some of the forum threads and am a bit confused about how trackdays work in New Zealand? If I understand it correctly, the days are shared between cars and bikes and sometimes trucks???!!! Are there any just for bikes? Please tell me there are some good tracks to ride as well as some good roads, I've seen some outstanding pictures and can't wait. See you out and about sometime soon. You can start bantering me about being english now...

Trackdays only a couple of rules..
a/ there are loads of em
b/ shit loads of em
c/ you do have mixed days, but they are spread out in groups, like cars only then bikes only etc
d/ there are bike only days aswell, normally set up by these guys.
When ya make it over hope you enjoy it here...I know I do.
Man thanks for that, wasn't expecting a response so soon. Glad to hear it about the trackdays. It was the one thing I was worrying about, really looking forward to coming. Gixxers are the way forward though!!

NZ is a lovely place for bike rides!!! What is the highway speeds in England? I ma use to 120km/h and the NZ 100km/h is killing me!!! But that’s what the track days are for… Where in NZ are you moving to?

I see you have Ohakea in your location, and you've just "found out" you are moving to NZ. I'm picking airforce?
Welcome to our shores.
Now, um, can you organise a run for us all on the Ohakea runway? I'd sure like to do a top-end test......

Dont get to friendly with 'Indy'....when he finds out that you are at Ohakea he will no doubt love to get down there and do his 'Tom Cruise/Top Gun' thing on the runway while listening to 'Take my Breathe away' through his iPod...

Welcome along to the site mate!
You can get plenty of spare parts for your gixxer here, just keep an eye out on the side of the road, there's one been binned every few K's...
(p/t)
You really need to move to Coromandel. The track days there are well worth it:blip:

Thanks for all the welcomes. Yep guessed right joining the RNZAF. Don't worry not a pilot. Got a bit excited found out Friday last week but am actually not coming until next May! Bit of a long way off but no time like the present to start finding stuff out. Been thinking about the move all day every day since I found out. I'm already there in my mind. Any good trackdays next year and I'm there, hopefully see some of you there as well.
