Howdy all

I am on holiday at the end of August so thought I might take a ride around part of this fair country!! (See the maps below, they are a rough Idea)
Confirmed Dates
25th-28th August (Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th)

25th August DAY 1 - East Cape Wander
Thoughts are to leave Hawkes Bay early am and basically head to Gisborne.
Then follow the coast around to Ohope, checking out anything that takes my interest (East Cape Lighthouse etc)
I wont spend to much time on back country roads as I am reasonably close and can do the East Cape on any weekend. I also want to get used to the feel of the bike with the extra luggage, before venturing onto the gravel too much.

26th August DAY 2 - To the Coromandel
Head to Coromandel, having a slower trip today as my butt will probably be sore from the previous days riding :shit:

27th August DAY 3 - Coromandel
Take a scenic ride around the Coromandel, right to the top and everywhere in between

28th August DAY 4 - Back to Hawkes Bay
Take a scenic ride back to Hawkes Bay, if time and weather permits then I may even look at going through Waikaremoana?

I cant go to serious as I am solo, but welcome anyone keen to tag along on any of those days, please let me know so we can get in touch.

Depending on the weather I will be taking my tent:gob:

Cheers & Beers

Yeah give us a yell when you are heading down Wairarapa way. I could possibly join you on Sat 26th Aug if it was then, but for the week after that I'll be in Adelaide so not around.

Hey Merv

I will call you once I know which direction to go?:wait:
It would be good to have some company along the way.

I need to get the bike sorted I guess?
Looks like I have to use the XR as the new one wont be here in time

OK so you'll definitely go North and we won't see you down our way this time.

I could be in for the Top O the Top run,I haven't done that for a long time, and it's on my to do list.I'd have to trailer the bike up,as I have neither the time, patience or gluteus maximus fortitude to ride that far over boring flat straight roads on a stroppy light 2 stroke dirt bike.....and then all the way back again.

I have no back tyre,I'd have to get one on saturday afternoon, fit it and the front to, service the bike on the same day, trailer it back home, load it up again on sunday morning.Oh shit,I'm worn out already. If a 4.60 x 18 IRC GP22 presents itself to me on saturday I may attempt the effort.

[edit] hang on,just had a crap and cleared my head - I get a tyre this weekend and have a week to get it ready....that's more doable.

Hey Merv

Yep North it is!
Unless the weather turns bad
I am from the Wairarapa so I have done most of that, and I am working on a trip from Napier to Ngawi along the coast later in the year or early next year when the ground drys out a bit and we can cross the Mataikona river :)

I will keep you posted on that one

Cheers Scott
