Part of the ride in to work takes me onto a small(ish) roundabout.
It is a five-exit one, so the "touring types" don't understand how to use it - if you enter at 6 o'clock there two turnoffs before exiting at 12 'clock (at about 20-to and 10-to), given it is the 3rd exit, as far as I am aware you should use the inside lane and move over to exit. But you get a lot of them just float round the outside lane until they reach the exit they want.
So this morning, onto the roundabout... behind someone dithering badly. So I'm aware that I'll be getting traffic catching me on the inside. So just before I lean bike over to exit, quick flick of eyes to mirror, spot car in corner with indicator flashing... so take the safe option and ride right round the roundabout and back to the correct exit.
Just as well I was thinking about it. Also found that since they've flattened off the awful bumps and shellgripped it, riding all the way round seems to make for a really good way of approaching "my" exit!
Don't think I'll do it every day though.
Funny how I had a 'feeling' there would be a problem though - more than likely took in all the traffic around before entering the roundabout and was attuned to where they may be.
