Basic Handling Skills Test Age Limit?

i'm 14 and there's a motorcycle instructor coming to school this weekend and he's doing tests for the basic handling skills test and i was wondering if someone could tell me if theres an age limit on this as some driving instructor websites say you must be 15 to take the test but i'm not sure if this is just for there particular driving schools or an actual regulation.

You must be 15 to sit your licence but you can sit your BHS before that, you just can't use it...

Also I recently found out that the BHS cirt does not expire. I had mine issued to me in 2000, and was able to use it for my learners a couple of weeks ago.

ltsa says no limit, testing officers seem to say a limit.

The local instructer didn't allow anyone under 15 to do the course. But that was his policy, it isn't illegal to do the BHS course under 15. Ask the instructer and hopefully he'll let you. U ddnt rite ur messg lik dis so you should be intelligent enough to ask him in a polite and mature manner.

I was 14 when I did mine, but you have to be 15 to do the lisence. Good luck and have fun. Drop the bikes they have too, it's fun.

I was not expecting to be able to use it after so long, called the LTSA and they said that because it didn't have an expiry date on it, it will still be valid.

When I arrived at the licencing place (AA) the lady looked at me a bit sideways (due to the issue date of 2000). I explained that I called the LTSA and they said it was fine, she took my word for it, but she kept saying 'We will see if the computer lets it through', it did, so was alowed to use it.

That is because the computer wasn't told not to let it through. Some people think computers are highly intelligent beings.

Anyway, back to the topic. Realistically there is no need for an expiry date on this test, as the first time you do it you are likely to be the most imcompetitent on a bike. You only get better with every ride.

And now to the origional poster. I would ask nicely, and there shouldn't be any worries. Honestly if the test was around when I was 7, I am sure I could have passed it then.

What a great idea, getting the instructor to run BHS courses at school. Good way to get rider numbers up.

I remember those days too. I even remember the cops name.

Thing is most of us were already on the farm bikes by that stage. It was a good environment to learn the rules of the road though.
So it was a benefit to those who had to use the road on the farm bike from time to time.

Had a huge impact on me when he brought in some accident photos.
These were not nice, as I didn't even like to see blood come from a sheep (one reason I am not a farmer).

Another intresting thing, when you read about it in the road code, all bike must have a WOF to do the basic skills test. funny when i did mine not one of the instructors 10 bikes had a WOF or reg.

i rung the guy up and asked him but he wouldn't let me, he said to get back to him about a month before i actually turn 15. But anyway forgetting about that i get my first road bike tomorrow.. hopefully lol its a gpz250r is that any good as a first bike?
