So aside from the cup of soup jokes, is any riding on Continental tyres?

I have a continental rear and a dunlop TT900 front. For $100 there a great tyre, imo... Dont take long to warm up and are sticky enough to medium to fastish road riding. Found it was great around Manfeild as well.

i need a rear tyre, this continental sounds good for $100, SJ. was that brand new?
Thanks Str8Jacket. Will be interested to know if anyone else has experience of them. What bike do you ride (with the Continental on)?

is continental and conticity the same thing?
if so I had one on the back of my late fxr150 but hated it and replaced it with BT39 at 129 or so. it was a much much better tyre.

The new Contis are designed by the guy who did the Diablo series. They seem pretty good on paper but I haven't tried them yet.
The Attack series are one of few brands where the manufacturers say you can mix sport and touring tyres. They also need more air pressure than some makes.

Yeah, but I have a KR150 so my tyres are pretty small. Your size probably wouldnt be as cheap?

Hi MDB, they're an awesome tyre, I had them on my GSXR1000, they gave immediate improved feedback, the Bridgestones I had on it kept letting go. Then switch my Duc to them after Pilot Powers, they give a lot more feedback, they hold well in the wet, the bike tips in a lot smoother and I only got 3000kms on the Powers, whereas the Conti's have done 5000kms so far and just over half worn. They inspire a lot of confidence. They are designed to heat up at lower road temperatures than a lot of other tyres, and suit NZ conditions. Well worth the money. Everyone I know that has tried them say the same thing. I have road Attacks on as I do a lot of touring, but will try the Sport Attacks next time too.

I was ready to put the Conti's on, until I looked at the reviews in Mag's from the UK showing that the Diablo Corser's and the Pilot powers were a bit better. After Umming and Arring, I went with the Pilot powers - and holy crap they a brilliant, compared with the BT014's that came with the bike.
Nonetheless, like Cowpoo's said, along with what Kerry at Sawyer's has said, the guy's and girls on the Sport Attacks are absolutely lovin them! Not only good grip and warm up times, but also good durability.
What more could you ask for!
Thanks for all the feedback. Sounds like people with them love them and they are a great tyre. So long as it holds onto the road I'll be happy!!

I was thinking Conti's next. I've heard good things too. Undecided about sport or road though. At this time of year, 90% of my riding is commuting. In summer it's closer to 50/50.

Yep Conti on the rear and Pirelli Diablo strada on the front of a Crusty cbr 1000f - bike gets a fair bit of shit over the rimataka and Paecock ( lol ) hill, and never had a problem with it - wet and dry its like shit to a blanket.
Two up again no probs - have just got a new one to replace current one.
Good chicken marks on edge of tyre - and good wearing tyre.
I would recommend.:blah:

As far as the Contis go, they test them on the old Nurburgring, so they should work pretty well across varying conditions and surfaces. That was the beauty of the old Contis, at any rate. IMHO the euro rubber always seems to handle varying surfaces and temperatures (excluding race rubber) far more predictably than japanese made rubber, I assume due to the wide variation in euro roads. Anyone else got any theories about this?
Does anybody know if the new Diablo Corsa III (dual compound) is for sale here yet?
Normally I use Corsas at both ends but have a normal Diablo on the back at the moment - better in the wet due to deeper-wider grooves. A mate has Pilot powers on his ZX-10, and he loves them, and have considered trying them,
but another Diablo Corsa on the rear now will mean that I can wear my front out then possibly change tyre brands as a pair...

Just got another Conti rear for the FZ1, it had done another 10,000kms and had a little more to go. That will be the 6th Conti that I have had. Great and grippy in the wet as well. Had a little whoops at the first round-a-bout after picking up the bike tonight with the nice shiney rear tyre. Motox skills come in handy on a road bike.

Tried Conti Road Attacks when I first got my bike. As mentioned they do like a bit more pressure or they will square off quite quickly. Found them very good in the wet but can't give you a really good assessment overall as I was doing my "Captain Wobble" impression at that point (.....still am...) after 27 years away from road bikes. Went to Pilot Powers and have found them great.
I don't know about the Sport Attacks but the Roads are a great wearing tyre.
I still have the ones I took off the bike (180/55/17 and 120/70/17). They are less than half worn. $150 the pair + freight if anyone is interested.

What sort of pressures do they seem to prefer for solo (and also 2-up)?
mangell6 - 10,000k is a pretty impressive lifespan for a sports tyre alright. I'm impressed, might have to consider a set of these for sure. The price sounds pretty good! Interesting tread pattern too, should shift a fair amount of water when required....

10,000km is winter riding, as an average somewhere between 7-10,000kms depending on the riding style, i.e. drive vs ride around a corner. Its all in the lean.
I run between 36-39 on the front and 39-42 on the rear. The tyres in the image are above are the 'older' ones, the last three attacks that I have had have all had different tread patterns. Did the Rusty Nuts Southern Cross ride on Attacks that had tread that only covered the centre part of the tyre, was concerned but shouldn't have been.

Ran 36/42 solo. Never take a pillion, wobble around enough by myself without adding extra weight...

I have Road-Attacks on my ZZR1100, they have made in Korea stamped on the side-wall. Handle beautifully, warm up well and stick like shit. I'm a little concerned by the extreme wear on the sides of the front though, a wear pattern that is opposite to the other tyres I've had so far on this bike, the others (Shinko's & Metzeler Sportec's) wore the centre out first. I must be going around too many corners, or maybe eating too many pies.

Just ordered a pair of sport attacks to try, Cost $540 fitted for the pair,
There is no competition for the tyre retailers down here so I'm not sure if it's a good price or not.

What Bridgestones did you use? Apparently the MotoGP SB riders are struggling with them too - same problem . :oi-grr:

Had Sport Attacks as my last tyres. Seemed pretty good. Didnt slip... (well not heaps anyway), Lasted about the same as the normal sport tyres.
All round, were pretty good.

Mind if I ask why you changed from them?
