I need some leathers, I am 115kg 6ft and reasonably solidly built, not really that podgy but got a big arse and the best man tits you'll ever see.

Needed for bucket racing because MNZ are dicks.

Dude...

I spoke to Quasi about getting a set of his leathers, but need them in a size 60 at least, shoot him a PM and see what he can do.

He's at Taupo today (spoke to him last night) He's got a set of one piece for $500. They'll be just about bang for you I reckon. They were made for a bigger bloke but not made lasrge enough. Go to the Quasi site, get his number and call him (or Paula). There's been nuthin' bad said about his gear and they been down the road a couple o' times too!

No, MNZ wouldn't give a shit about our resident telly tubby's safety. It's because we live in a blameless society and they are simply covering their arses in the event that tubby bins and breaks a nail.

I'd happily lend you my leathers big boy, but you know there's no point.

I could argue and provide many realistic examples where leathers were no more effective than jeans and a ski jacket.

I think Finn hit the nail on the head.

It's my skin, my bones and my ego, if I choose to break or bruise any one of them it should be my choice and my responsibility.

Which is what the indemity form is for, ain't it?

Nah Swanny I reckon you hit the nail on the head... two operative words "my" - you said that one often and "ego" - you just dont want to conform and want it your way....:msn-wink:

No, I just don't see the point in paying $500 for new leathers when the bike cost me a box of beers. And Codura or two pairs of jeans is just as good... but it "must be leathers" in order to partake in any actual racing.

I gotta get some leathers... perhaps if we got together and skinned a cow we'd have enough to cover us both?

How big are the fuckin cows where you come from?

You'd need an elephant, but at least the protection would be top notch.

Which is what the indemity form is for, ain't it?Nah Swanny the indemnity form is not worth a peice of cold shit unless you have been made to undertake all practical means of protecting your self so if you signed an indemnity form then were alowed to go and race in your boxer shorts and you came off and lost all your skin your mum and dad would be able to take MNZ to court because MNZ did not ensure that all pratical means of making you protect youself had been complied with by the way dude MNZ are not a bunch of dicks Paul Pavletitch the CEO of MNZ is a very Close personal freind of mine He took the Job at Mnz Because he is passonate about motor cycles and has a genuine inerest in ensuring that all who ride motorcycles can continue to do so with the minimum of regulation somtimes that means you have to cover your bases but this is done so that the general public only see us in a good light we both have riden motorcycles since we were 15 years old. Before taking on the Job at MNZ Paul was operations Manager At the largest Food beverage liquor and tobacco Distribution company in New Zealand Covering branches in Whangerai Auckland Hamilton Tauranga Rotorua and Gisbourn to say he was erning a lot more then than what MNZ can aford to pay him is a gross understatment

Cheers

Well, this thread is about me wanting to buy leathers for bucket racing, so I am conforming to their requirements (did you think about that Joni? or are you too busy having a personal little hissy fit because you don't agree with some of what I say on here, quick send your boyfriend around to intimidate me, PM me for my address).

I still think that they are dicks for imposing such a rule which prevents the philosophy that buckets is a cheap form of entry level racing.

You are allowed out on the track in codura or two pairs of jeans and a jacket so long as you sign the indemity form. However, to actually race they employ the MNZ rules which require that you wear leathers in order to participate.

I'm also over 18, so parents or guardianship don't come into the equation, I am an adult in the eyes of the law.

It's too "politically correct" for my liking, but I'm getting leathers anyway (remember, that is why I created the thread...) because it's something I enjoy and I want to try and progress with. It's just a shame that because of someone elses decision I have to fork out more money when I don't see any practical reason to do so (I have plenty of pairs of jeans and full codura gear).

Back on topic aye ... anyone got some ripped up old leathers that they want to sell?

Feel free have a look around - if you can find as good or better quality gear at the same price or better, I doubt it. But I s'pose it depends on what ya want. If you wanna race and them that'll let ya race say "wear leather..." well..... ?

You sure they'll accept that? I'd check first... may have some clause like "must be up to a certain standard" or something

That's not too bad for a leather getup eh.

Quasi has a 1 piece for $500, did not fit the intended original owner. They look sweet and are brand new.

PM him.

No it isn't cordura doesn't provide the same level of abrasion resistance that leathers do and jeans provide no protection at all

I still think that they are dicks for imposing such a rule which prevents the philosophy that buckets is a cheap form of entry level racing.

even with having to fork out for leathers for the majority of people it would still be far cheaper than any other class, the only reason it isn't for you is because of your size, however I may know where I can get you a 2nd hand set tht might fit,I will check and let you know

That would be for uncontrolled track days that aren't run by a club?

That my dear is not a hissy fit - however your responce is a much better definition, thanks! :first:

With regards to my boyfreind - I dont stand behind anyone or anything including the internet... He, as in my boyfriend, is actually prepared to help you get the leathers you need, because we love racing and will support people who want to get into the sport...

Nah sorry dude, quoted wrong post.

I mean dick in the sense (and it is in the dictionary) to "botch or bungle up" ... "Joe dicked the party".

I got into bucket racing because of all the old farts I know who would tell me about the fun they had and how 'open' it sounded. Then I learn about all these rules and regulations and you just wonder why motorcycle racing isn't the as good/big as it could be.

Same could be said for plenty of other sports, etc.

Hey Swanny, even if you find some leathers a close fit, you can usually find someone to modify them to fit you better. As for why, while you might agree to race at your own risk, what happens if you arse off and need hospital and medical care? Time off work or an ACC claim?
Mate, once you've raced in leathers you won't want to race in jeans again. Got decent boots, gloves, back protector, helmet etc?
