Gudday everyone,
Just want to do the usual thing and introduce myself as well! I've been wanting to get into riding for a decade now - but due to my younger brother "beating" me to it first and the usual heart conniptions mothers experience (especially with anything to do with motorised two wheels!), I'm only now getting into where I've always wanted to go.
Just bought a 2004 250cc Honda Hornet in sweet red yesterday . Took a trip to the Coromandel and gave it a look over and had my heart instantly captivated. No GN250 for me!
I've been perusing the forums and reading just about anything I can to get more info about my new lifestyle - kudos to all you helpful fellas (and fellaresses!) out there responding and giving great advice, keep it up!
Okay, thats enuff ramblin' - I'm going to go to the Posties tomorrow and get the deed of ownership done so it can be mine to ride!

Welcome to the site. The Hornet is a nice bike and entirely suitable for a beginner. You'l have some really nice riding on that.
But don't put down the GN250, it is also a very good learners bike and will keep up with the Hornet in all but the hardest riding.

Hey - congrats on the hornet! Enjoy it. I've got a GN 250 and it is not too bad, but I got a dirty look from my Mum last weekend when I said something about saving for my next bike....not because she loves the GN, either!

Wow, seems like people read forums as much as I do! heh:yes: I wasn't knocking the GN250 - I was seriously going to buy a new one to start out on! For $3300+ORC you can't complain about value for money! Just turned out that after doing the obligatory test sittings (on a number of other 250ccs), the hornet just had that "ride me!" screaming out to me, I guess you all know that feeling when you sit on it and you just know its "you"!
Just need to trailer it back up my way next weekend! I'll need a bit more experience before I tackle the twists and turns on the roads at Coromandel!
:innocent:
But, oh, can't wait till then!:wait:

Haha, you're a welcome addition to the site :niceone:
Those Hornets are incredibly nice bikes, and their engine is straight from the CBR250 so you should have a lot of fun on it. How much was it? Got any pics?

:grouphug: Awww shucks you guys are bringing a tear to my eyes with such warm greetings! I've just come from the posties to do the $9.20 deed to get it transferred into my name - now all I have to do is get the insurance for it!
And I cheated a bit and posted the photos from the trademe site where I found my wee beastie, but I'll get some more taken later when I get it up here in the weekend!
I'm having a blast reading all the past posts in kiwibiker - can't wait till I get out and meet some of the personalities here eventually!

Nice one mate, can see why you are in love with your new toy!:2thumbsup I would've loved to start out on one of those than the GN too. (not that there is anything wrong with them) It should last you a while too.

I went for a ride the day after picking up my bike, and I hadn't even paid for it! Before the start of the ride, I had a grand total of 1 1/2 hrs on it... Was a right nana, but you learn quick out on the road! Pushing within reason of course... :blip:
Welcome to the madness!

Welcome to KB, hope you enjoy the new bike. If you haven't already then get yourself a mentor from the site and they can help you get into some good riding habits and maybe teach you a couple of useful things.

Thanks MackTheKnife, I'm a great believer of taking advantage of other peoples experiences and learning from their mistakes! And of course, heeding their sage advice....now if only I could work out how to join that group as a newbie!

Oookay ... today I will be going to the Coromandel and picking up my sweet little beastie. Bought some motorcycle tie-downs for the old trailer and stashing my gear!
I can't wait till I'm buzzing around on it - first gotta drop off a friend to Paeroa and then heading on to the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow :first:
I'll get some updated photos of it when I've washed and polished it! Hope all you guys and gals out there have some good, safe riding today! :scooter:
