:Oi: ya hairy Zespri, howabout doin' a calendar event with all the info available and required to know about such things for ya track down there.

Ta very muchly

:soon:

Edit: Was just reading ya Registration and Scrutineering rules and found this "All riders must have a current NZ motorcycle licence" - why?? Its a track, only cause some people may lose their license between now and then.
Does it really matter??

If this is a genuine issue for you then contact Peter on ride@motott.co.nz and im sure we can work something out.

Im yet to update the rules page on the website, the rules there atm are for the trackday just been.

Ha ha not bloody likely, I is not stupid enough to air my dirty laundry on a public forum, of which I may or may not have, I could be the only perfect one here :killingme who doesn't speed or abuse slow drivers

Was just asking the question due to the fact it is a track and that I thought it was a bit odd, e.g. kids in karts

Official: "excuse me sonny, can I see your license?"
Kid: "Hang on, Dad!! . . . . ."

See my point?

I would like to attend this but can't tell yet with work. So how do the Aucklander's go about it? You all go down on Thursday and spend the night or ride down early on Friday and back after the track sessions are all over?
How long does it take to ride down to the track from Auckland usually?

How long does it take to ride down to the track from Auckland usually?Takes between 3.5 & 4 hrs to travel down from Ak mate, so you'd have to get away by around 5am on Fri morning. Last time two of us trailered our bikes down to Towpoe on the Thurs night and stayed in a local motel, so we were fresh and early to the track Fri morning, worked a treat. This time three of us are planning to do the same thing, so that will mean a full trailer! :woohoo:

Thanks Zed, been talking to Gareth and the plan to to take our bikes down in a van on Thursday arvo and also spend the night in a motel there like you guys. "Q. Will the track day be held if it rains?

A. Yes unless the track is unrideable and the track day will then be rescheduled."

I'm really looking forward to this, it should be a mint day. What happens if it rains or is the weather usually good around this time in Taupo?I'll have a chat to the others i'm going with and maybe we can get one of those rooms Gareth refers to to keep costs down, would be good to have some extra company on Thurs night. If it's raining i'm not gonna ride on the track, hence why I am registered on the pay-on-the-day list, so i can pull out at the last minute if the weather turns to crapola. Will probably travel down to Taupo either way unless a storm sets in the day before!

Not sure if this is the right place to mention this but I was at the Taupo track today and I noticed that the S bends on the original circuit has been removed!, any one know why?.

I did hear that it was to assist in the A1 GP thats coming next year, it was thought that the track was a bit narrow there. Not much fun on a bike.

Any ideas what other changes may be in store?.

My bike started making a rattly noise last week - currently in at Colemans and they suspect but won't confirm (yet) a problem on the crankshaft. They think it will be off the road for a week.

I have been SO looking forward to getting this bike on the track!!!! Had a great run on the weekend and though I enjoyed it the first time I rode it, it's so much better now...... This is SO disappointing!!

So, if anyone wants my place for Friday, it's available.....

thats gutting man.... u wana make sure its a major before you pull out completely.

Regarding transfering your payment to the next trackday: give Peter an email on ride@motott.co.nz explaining what has happened, im sure it wont be a problem to simply put you in the paid collumn for the next trackday.

Remain optimistic, it might not be a major

Whos Richard Leong and what does he/his company do?
He is a Firewall specialist. And my long suffering friend/race mechanic. We have unfinished business, one day I'll finish my original 1st newbie post and people will understand a little more what I mean by unfinished business...

Well it looks like ill be turning up for this one and wobbling my way around behind everyone...
Why? are your steering head bearings shot? :innocent:

w00t! Have put the sump back on as well as the pipes and radiator and no leaks of any sort from anywhere! So all is looking very good! Now all that is left is to throw the race fairings on and secure them down with the makeshift wooden bracket I made earlier

I wonder if I should have rather opted to go in the slower group?
If I'm lagging behind in the medium group after the first session I could always change right?

Yes! Got the Pirelli Supercorsas on that I scored from LooseBruce, in the process Bungy at Cycletreads lowered my forks as i asked him, then got carried away tinkering with my suspension settings!!! The bike feels totally different, seems really stable in a straight line, it hesitates a bit to turn in but once its over it wants to keep on going which is a little unnerving. Will have my steering damper sorted tomorrow ready to go so it'll be interesting to see how it feels on the track. Really looking forward to this, but dont laugh if im going a little slow!

New 'best day of my life', last taupo trackday is only 2nd best now.

I was in the B group with my cbr600, first session i forgot to set my tire pressures and was feeling some slide. came back in at the end of the session with 42psi in the rear and 38 in front. set the pressure right for the second session and was much faster, tires were sticking like glue.
the new clutch i put in two days ago worked primo. 12 year old motor with 75,000kms keeping up with 01 r6 down the main straight, i was having a great time
anyway in the afternoon i rode a crf450 motard in the C group, then a 02 cbr600 in B group, then the motard again in C group. Then in the "all in" session at the end i rode my cbr600 again and had a great chase with the 02 cbr600. wouldve been my fastest laps for the day, even got a small power slide going once, i had to really ring my bikes neck to keep up. I need to get smoother, im abit unsmooth, learn alot following a better rider.
when i did try to get past him i run off the track entering the main straight (curse corners that tighten, i need to work on them) luckly the guys working on the fence were further down, as i rode across some dirt along the grass by the fence and back onto the track. Phew! and hello the 02 cbr600 has waited for me and the chase is on again, this time i manged to get past him on the inside, as he went to go wide around someone and they went wide too, hehe. and he chased me for a bit, but that didnt last long, i underbraked for the end of main straight and had to run off the end, good thing there is a drag strip there.
I seen two bikes crash during the day, each time the ambo drove out, seperate sessions but both of them on the same corner, in the same place, coming out of the tight left before the fast left sweeper. couldnt really tell what the bikes were from that distance but going by the yellow and green skid marks id guess one of the yellow sv650`s and a kawasaki of some sort. far as i could tell they were ok and the riders werent carted off either, all good
They had a pie van there this time! was that there last time? nice bacon and egg slice there, only 2$? primo, top man.
I would say there was at least 100 bikes, b group had about 40 or there abouts, but it didnt feel congested to me, long track, and wide. The new section before main straight is like a four lane motorway, very wide.
anyway thats enough rambling from me, great day, great weather, only 76 days till the next one!

I came, i saw, i rode, i was slow... my tyres got chewed up, i had no grip from the rear, i had non stop chatter in the front, i couldnt go any faster without crashing... I cried and left in a bad mood... But then i thought... Geez i didnt crash, i did average, i can save at least 5-7 seconds per lap on the bike with set up suspension... So not in such a bad mood now....

I had da same problem, first with the Super corsa, then a Diablo Corsa all that cash gone in a few hundered k's. Started to think it was my shock.

LB set me up with a s/hand pirelli slick for yesterday, had to give it two laps to warm up but after that it was awesome. And the wear is sweet and I should get two more trackdays out of it easy. Give him a PM I think he's got a few.

What can I say! I had an awesome day. Spent the first session learning the track, sussing out what gear selections worked best as my 2nd gear is feeling pretty poked and i had new tyres and new suspension setup (courtesy of Bungy at Cycletreads AKL).

Second session I found my 'mojo' and was feeling pretty quick (for me) was riding at what was previously my fastest on the track which to be honest wasnt that quick considering i havent been on a track since February, and only done 4-5 decent road rides since then. Towards of this session I had heaps of confidence in the Supercorsa Pros that Loosebruce hooked me up with so i gassed it up a bit more and pushed a bit harder, and wtf my knee is dragging! Fucken oats i was stoked. Two laps to go and i pushed a little bit harder on each corner and by the end of the session i was knee down on 1/2 the left handers.

Third session, lined up at the front with my new found confidence telling me not to hold back. Managed to hold a lead on the other bikes for quite some time, getting knee down on more corners, getting faster and faster through the session. Then the unfortunate happened and another rider came off about half a lap behind me, many riders had stopped to help but as i was unable to do anythign and the ambulance was already there i continued on to the pits and got a small wheelie or two in before the end of the track, again 2nd gear stopping me from doing any decent ones.

Fourth session and i went out like a bat out of hell, even managed to get knee down on one of the right handers which i was prett stocked with as there is only two real opportunities to touch down unless you are a pro rider. Ended up with my reserve light on and as i was tight for cash i decided to leave the 5th session out and pack my bike up so i'd have gas money to get to work/uni during the week.

Big thanks to Keystone, Motobob, Zed, Superdave and Devil for putting up with me through the weekend and helping to keep the costs for the weekend down. Also to LooseBruce for the tyres!

Im hoping that some photos will surface so i can see whether i got knee down because i was lent over heaps or if i was just hanging off like a monkey.

I had a pretty good day,
couldnt brake hard due to my finger, had one off track experience but managed to keep it upright :D
felt my corner speed has dropped alot, ive lost abit of confidence, found myself thinking "im gonna crash, im gonna crash!"
wasnt looking far enuf ahead too
Still, i know what i need to work on and i hope i can get back to my previous speed soon.

The day went well,
we put the motards up front and let them go a few secs b4 everyone else which helped alot (those guys are hardcore! lol)
Everyone was pretty well behaived on the track which was good to see.

I had the tank cam onboard a couple of times, kept crapping out so all i have is one slow warm up lap of me following my mate on buggy's old zx6.
will upload that soon

got a shit load of pictures too, thanks Alick! :niceone: i will upload the pics of kbers on monday :)

Holy shit, that was such an excellent day, I had so much fun.

My first session however was shitty to be honest. By the end of it I felt that I was too slow for the medium group and that I had blown my own trumpet and should have rather selected to ride in the slower group. Had a bit of a chat with Motobob and Zed who cheered me up, after this I was amped for the second session ready to give it my all.

Second session came and went and I was left with the biggest grin on my face. This was to be the same for the further 3 sessions.
My usual road pressures are 41 rear and 39 front - I know these are higher than everyone else I have asked but it was only until after this trackday that I have really thought about lowering them a bit. My first session I had 34 front and 36 in the rear but changed to 35 front and 37 rear for the second session. I kept these pressures for the rest of the day.

I felt that I was improving and learning from each further session. Each following session was even better than the one before it. I learnt so much from this trackday.

My understanding of braking and handling dynamics has increased.
I also need to look further into the corner than I currently do.

Like Kiwifruit said, prior to each session I too kept thinking that this would be the session that I would lay the bike down or run off the track. It didn't worry me because it doesn't scare me - this is probably because I'm young and unable to really comprehend my own mortality. Though the moment I got onto the bike and on the track this thought was no where in my mind and all I could think about was the track and my riding. Though the first session I found myself focusing on other riders too much but from the second session onwards I found myself in the zone start to finish.

Looking forward to seeing all the pictures that were taken as well at the next trackday!

Also was good to spend the night before and the day with R6_kid, Zed, Keystone, Motobob and Devil. Maybe not the night with Gareth, he snored like a mofo the whole damn night.

was just thinking, while in my second session out, i came around the left hand sweeper at the end of the front pit straight and managed to forget screw it up somehow, which stuffed me up for the next 3 corners. I remember saying to myself out loud in my helmet "your fucking slow" and proceeded to try harder and harder which is about the time i got knee down.

Well that was the best track day ever for me, thanks MotoTT and especially Kiwifruit, for another successful adrenalin-pumping event! :Punk:

My whole trip was great except for the journey back in the rain today where I got saturated, cold, and rather uncomfortable in my wet one-piece leathers, but hey, getting drenched doesn't take away from the brilliance of yesterdays meeting at Taupo.

Seven of us travelled down from Ak on Thursday night, had a meal together (mmmm steak), and five of us shared a motel room...let's just say I was very happy to be sleeping alone in the lounge cos the noises that were coming out of those bedrooms in the wee hours of the morning were real scary!!

So we got up at around 7.00am, breakfast had been ordered by everyone the night before so we had room service at 7.30am, muched and were on our way to the track by 8.00am ish. When we arrived at the track it was foggy but by 10am the track was dry and ready to be played on, apparently there were 112 bikes there! Last MotoTT day I nearly didn't make it through scrutineering because of my front brake pads, so this time around I ensured everything was up to scratch which meant getting a new front Pilot Race tyre fitted on Wednesday, at the same time I had the Blade's suspension set up by the same guy that did Gareths bike at Cycletreads, worked a treat!

I say it was my best ever track day because I just felt more confident and comfortable out there than usual, found my groove real early in the 1st session and it lasted thru until the end of the 5th, was riding faster and faster around the twisty track as the day progressed, and the bike went superbly, I couldn't fault it! Really enjoyed riding in Group 2, had lots of awesome dicing sessions with riders of similar ability, and no really close calls!

Thanks for the company Jill, Paul, Gareth, Dave, Matt & partner, also good to catch up to heaps of other KBers and familair faces, you all being there made the day as good as it was!

Couple of pics attached, didn't take many. Loosebruce (No.36) & Sugilite (one wheel) were the two quickest guys on the track from where I was sitting, quite enjoyed watching you guys strut your stuff, yet everyone rode very well! :ride:

On Wednesday I finally got my mits on a dead, naked ZXR400 to fix with my complete lack of mechanical knowledge. Put the battery on the charger & hoped for the best on Thursday. Changed the oil & filter & got the sump plug drilled thanks to Erik at Mercer Stainless. Thursday morning put the battery back in & still no sign of life. With no way of transporting it I pushed it up Riri street(the hill was right at the end) to Hunts Auto Electrical where Lloyd got it going for me. Rode it back to the workshop then tried to organise transport since the ute I had planned fell through. Celine loaned me her van so I picked up the bike & a few bits & peices & was soon loaded up.

Got to the track & realised I hadn't looked at the dodgey throttle that through years of neglect & abuse, was not returning. Sugilite kindly sorted it for me while getting all his own stuff ready. Thanks mate:niceone: Missed out on my first group 2 session but the kind folks let me out in group 3. This was my first time riding on Taupo but I had been on the back of Sugilite's 750 at the last MotoTT day, which gave me a good idea of the right lines to take. I started out not wanting to pass anyone but before the end of the first lap I couldn't hold back any longer & started to overtake a few. Got into my groove & had a blast! Only problem I found was the bike ran out of steam in top gear down the back straight. After the session I got told off for passing on the inside.:nono:

The next couple of sessions the bike started missing & wouldn't rev past about 6k. came in and GaryH loaned me a battery. Thanks Gary! Bike started off the starter so I thought it was problem solved. Got out in the next session & the same problem. Came in & had mostly given up on doing the last session so put my old battery back in & gave it a go anyway. Well it went like a little rocket & I thoroughly enjoyed hooning around and being blown away by all the fast guys.:not:

Have a whole lot of work to do on the bike to get it reliable for my first race meeting but I will thrive on the challenge. Huge thanks to Sugilite and GaryH for your help. Always good to see all the familiar faces...too many of you to name now.:spudwave:

Thanks to Kiwifruit and MotoTT for putting on these relaxed trackdays. And SlickD for the awesome pics!

Great Day, thanks Allan, Trevor, Peter & Co, well done to you all and all involved.

Had a few goals for the day, learn new part of track, push braking markers later, try different lines into, around and out of corners, trying what i thought could be defensive lines but still able to get good drive out and so on.
Struggled with the new part somewhat till later in the day, the bump on the entry wasn't a worry at all, just trying to figure how hard on the gas i could get and then working a new braking marker for the sweeper before the back straight out, left pretty happy with my progress in that area, really wanted to push into the last corners off teh back straight but alas nearly worn brake pads up front saw massive brake fade early on in the sessions, so new pads and braided lines in for the next race, should help greatly and improve feel in the front end under brakes all feels a bit vauge as if guessing what it's doing, brand new rubber well help alot as well, so looking forward to the taupo round even more so, with my goal being set in the top 5 for each race, gonna be good fun.

Great to catch up with a lot of the guys n gals oh and that Jill chicky.

keep the pics coming too, awesome to see a lot of first timers and great to hear of everyones improvements throughout the day, keep up the good work people

Great shots!

My quick write up...

Actually got to the track with time to spare this time so bikes unloaded and through scrutineering with no probs.

I went out in the medium group and had a pretty ordinary session first up. Couldn't get the right lines, someone pulled across in front of me down pit straight and I pulled a stoppie trying to avoid him and generally just had a bad time.

Decided to relax a little for the next session and just slow down and work on the lines. This, of course, worked a treat and I started to warm up a little. Had great fun dicing with Superdave for a little while (ok so I was behind him but it was fun keeping up) and just got into the groove.

Third session I played a cool little game called 'keep Quasi close' after he tootled past on his Ducati. That was fun.

Fourth session I decided to head out toward the front. Had heaps of fun playing with a motard. He'd out brake me (actually do those guys even use their brakes) but I'd out power him, eventually I got past him permanently down the back straight after I gapped him much sooner out of the sweeper. Did a couple more laps at full pace, peeked over my shoulder and there was no one there!!! I wondered for a moment if there'd had been a crash but apparently not! Thouht about slowing down so I'd have someone to play with but decided not to bother.

Fifth session I decided to head out with the fast group to spend some time following GarryH and Torque. Sat in behind for a bit, then went past Torque, then let both of them back in front again. Torque was a bit slower on his 400 so Garry went past and then I did. Gary pulled just a bit too much of a gap on me and I couldn't get back on him but it was heaps of fun playing at the back of the fast group.

Awesome day, well run, thanks heaps to Motott and crew...

Thanks to the guys and girls at Moto TT for putting on another great and well organised day. How do you guys organise the great weather?

Back to the day. Was pretty aprehensive about how things would go since I knocked myself out and buggered my shoulder a couple of weeks ago. Had a great time in 1st session just playing with myself but pulled in early with a bit of arm pump and the visor fogging up badly on the new helmet.

Next session played with Allan (I think) on his Alstare Gixxer 600 before he pulled away. Had a moment going round the Kiwi Rider R6 on the new turn. Didn't think he was going to turn in and I was in for a trip in the dirt. Bloody journalists. Rode most of the session before coming in.

Session three followed Sugilite on his ZX10 hoping to learn a smooth line round the far sweeper. Old Anthony is really smooth pity he wasn't on an RG150 so I could follow the whole session :-/ Managed to really bugger my arm up with a Demon braking move, for me. Must have hit a bump hard as the shock to the arm was nasty. Must be getting old. Sure pulled the braking markers back. Still finished the session.

Sat out session 4 to rest arm and watched the other guys in the session.

Session 5 was fun. Thanks to the tyrewarmers I could take off out front then slowed waiting for the Alstare to give me the learn. Had this ZX6R range up alongside and thought not another bloody journalist so I gave the CBR and handful to keep him in his proper place. Allan on the Astare caught up an once again gave me the learn. Followed for a few laps and then decided to slow and wait for Jill on her SV. However The Kawasaki ER6 come pass so I tucked in behind to see how much faster Wiggles was thru the turns compared to me. He certainly gets some good drive out of the sweeper. slowed down more waiting for K19, That girl sure is slow, I seemed to ride round in 1st gear for a few laps before she arrived. Only got to follow her for 2 laps before the session ended. She was riding really well, it was good to see her old confidence back. She should do well in the upcoming F3 races.

So at the end of the day I was pleased that I could ride and able to ride about 98%. Just have to work on getting in and out of the sweeper as this is the most awkward turn for me. Still not sure what suspension settings to use to preserve the rear tyre. Must be real soft or real hard.

Once again thanks to the MotoTT crew.

Indeed there are, some nice ones. But they just confirm my thoughts that I've got plenty of room for improvement - and I'm up the challenge

So is it $7 for all 6 photos of myself or $7 per an image?
