Sweet, motivation to clean the bike and take more pictures.
How does my profile picture look as an entry?

I vote all winning entries involve topless women posed on the bikes..

I'm sure Spankme would support that kekekeke

A nice Sporty with a scenic back-drop would look good - see Rashika! (hint-hint!)

Then I'd buy a calender for sure.

Will be good to see more action shots in this next one, 2006 was okay though. I'll be into supporting the site by taking a few copies, and submitting a pic this time around. :blip:

Good work Jo!

...My 'Studio', every evening from 10 'til late. Applicants to supply 3 different bikini outfits and a 'portfolio'. If you don't have a portfolio, one can be 'arranged'. Previous Miss Hawiian Tropic or Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition entrants preferred, but no previous modelling experience is necessary...

Quite frankly, I've had really good comments about the scenery pictures in the 2006 calendar.

If you guys want a nice juvenile stunting calendar, buy the Fast Bikes issue with the 2007 Calendar when it comes out.

I'd like to see more of NZ, and more of people's bikes, without adding a caveat that inspires broken bones.

Sooo... Where do you want the pics? Just in this thread??? I know you said you want more "action" photos... but I was thinking about submitting a larger version of my profile photo (might see if I can photoshop some of the scratches off the bike...) tell me what you think?

Grumpy old bugger arent you. But its a good point. A balanced mixture of stunting and racing mixed with some good touring photos would be nice. Rather diversity than one whole stunt/race calender.

Killjoy! :pinch:

Not at all. I don't want to buy a racing or stunting calendar to put up on the wall. Merely expressing my opinion.

I stopped going, "Ooooo, Ahhh" at wheelies about 25 years ago, and I don't think for a minute that a calendar of that type is representative of KB as a whole at all. The 2006 calendar was great, and I would have had no issues buying one for non-motorcyling friends to put up, thanks to the fantastic scenery shots included.

There was something missing in that post . . . wait for it:

Jim2=[Grump Mode Off]

There ya go buddy, I think you'll find today a lot more enjoyable because of that.

While I do partially agree with Jim2, I see no problem with a bit of variation in the pics, some stunt/race, some cruising, some posed. It would be nice to have NZ landmarks as a backdrop in them all, but who says the track at Taupo isnt a landmark?

Ooooh Bob I like that pic a lot! :D If you could darken the house in the background a bit that would be an improvement too.

The thing about calendars... people are looking at the same picture for a whole month so they have plenty of time to look at all the detail. The more technically 'perfect' the shot can be, the better IMO.

And I'm all in favour of variety too. Stunting, racing, off-road, scenery, bikinis, leather-clad sexy biker dudes :blip: ESPECIALLY plenty of leather-clad bikers... have I emphasised the leather? and the bikers?

Drunken Monkey
2nd August 2006, 11:21
The only problem with trying to please everyone with a bit everything is the calendar can come across as a bit disjoint, or maybe a bit messy or without focus. It's better to stick to a theme. If Joni & krew want to make the 2007 theme 'sport & action', they should. Jim2 can just wait until 2009 for the 'rural NZ scenery' edition ('cos 2008 is going to be the 'boobies' edition!)

mmmm, boobies....

Modded bikes would be awesome. But don't be a total 'tard. A picture of a modded bike in a badly lit garage, full of the doings of a P-Lab, doesn;t make for good calendar photgraphy.

All I'm saying is that some moderate stab at relevant composition for the subject makes a much better shot that some knob in holey jeans trying not to fall off the back of well-worn GSXR250 in an industrial wasteland.

Picture this a nice twisting road through some great SI scenery with some knee down action in the foreground, then that does both camps!

Wheelie in to the sunset with a mountain in the shot? Use your imagination Jim

but I agree it was cool having some great shots of NZ scenery I mean that shot of Mt Egmount was bloody brilliant!

edit: please submit pics to kiwibikercalendar@gmail.com

One thing tho, I wont take orders via the thread, please pm me if you are interested.

Wooohoooo, its gonna be a good one! :doobey:

PS - Dover I can see what you are saying however...I think this calender should be about bikes and the KB member that own them, them riding them, the people who are capable of doing the stunts safely doing them... we had a great selection last year, hopefully this year it will be even better.

At the risk of being curmudgeonly (again), I didn't buy this year's one until I had a look at one that had been delivered (to someone else obviously).

Any chance of actually getting a look at the final product before spending money on it? I'm not pre-ordering a stunt-fest celebration (Mutter, grumble)

Joni
11th August 2006, 11:11
And in reply at the risk of sounding rude Jim, then no you wont be buying one this year as we will be taking orders before we go to the printer....:nya: People have a tendancy to say they are taking things and then change their minds for what ever reason, Bugjuice had to work very hard to get the rid of the excess stock last year....

Jim - I will say it again, it wont be a stunt fest... if you dont have the trust or faith in the judgement that will be used rather dont order one. We are looking for a good mix of everything so the scenic shots you like will be there - but I think a full representation of NZ biking would be great.... so a little bit of everything.

There have been some great ones submitted :) Some good scenic bike shots for Jim2, good racing shots and a few stunt and off-road too... so a great variety which should make most people happy.

We now have a whopping 10 orders  I know its not ideal ordering with no idea on what on the way... however once the cut off does happen I will post a few pics to show what you can expect. However I would hope its not just about what pictures are selected, it should also be about supporting KB and Spank too.... so get those order rolling in guy and gals.

Joni
11th October 2006, 14:29
As I said previously Jono... the cut of for pic submissions has not rolled on yet, so nothing as been selected yet, so there is nothing to preview... there will be a small window of opportunity for me to do that before we have to send it off to the printers.

I will see what I can do, however I will be honest and say I am very disappointed in the response... I would have hoped people would know the calendar would be of the same quality or even better after we take what we learned from last year on... and its about supporting KB and Spank too... its $15 after all, We are not asking people to invest in a new GSXR.

But hey if its a preview people need, I will see what I can do after the cut off date. :wari:

Ok guys on a serious note... I have a lot on my plate right now... Im spending was too much of my home/family time on getting this thing done... I am not prepared to spend time trying to allocate payments with no reference numbers... when I send the banking details I specifically ask for you to give your user name as a reference...

At the risk of being a bitch, no reference, I take it as a donation and not an order.

So do I - its breaks the surprise of whos made it and whos did not - but hey if thats what it takes to get these buggers to order, then I suppose I will have to.

We need 100 orders guys, and right now we are not even close... please dont let all this work and effort be for nothing.

Joni, just the kick in the pants I needed,:dodge:

Last week we (I?) lost a lot of stored info and e-mails etc, including the one from you re account number, could you PM me again with details and I'll forward the calender money tomorrow (day off).

Ta Drum.... :sunny:

We are up to 81 now.

Just to let everyone know, 100 is the minimum point... if we get to 150+ things would be much better... but at this stage I cant believe how we are struggling to get to 100. Quite disheartening actually.
