"Determined to prove that air racing is indeed the ‘Formula One of the skies’, Jones raced David Coulthard and Jonathan Rea around Silverstone in an attempt to prove that his plane is as quick and nimble as DC’s F1 car and Rea’s Honda 1,000cc superbike.

British pilot Jones won the race with a time of 1.04 minutes, Coulthard was second with a time of 1.31 minutes and Red Bull Honda Superbike rider Jonathan Rea coming in third with a time of 1.57 minutes."

(rumour circulated that a sound recordist present at the event, completed a lap on his 1983 GN250, and did a 1:55 :msn-wink: )

Did the plane stay within the confines of the track?

But the bike would require minimal changes, lights, indicators etc, to make it road legal and actually practical on the road... Try that with the F1 car?

Cool for the plane though, that's pretty impressive, especially if he kept to a pretty low altitude... :)

Top Gear did the same thing on their track (same pilot I think). The guy had to bank steeply upwards at the end of each straight to keep within the confines of the track - pulling up to 6G's in the process.

Ive seen the odd show on Prime TV with these planes - their agility is stunning.
