The Trip
To take in as much of the East Cape and Coromandel as I can, this will be an Adventure ride with plenty of back country gravel roads.
I will be taking my tent in case I find somewhere cool to camp, otherwise its the local hotel or camp.
The Plan
Friday 25th August
Depart Napier at approx 8.30am and head North towards Wairoa
At Raupunga we go inland this is where the first gravel road waits for me, then its all gravel roads to SH38 (Road to Lake Waikaremoana)
Then heading inland again to Te Reinga and a few more Gravel roads to Gisborne
Then as far as I want to ride before I find somewhere to sleep (not after a few well deserved refreshments)
Saturday 26th August
From wherever I end up the night before.
Continue around north around the East Coast, and make a detour to the East Cape Lighthouse.
Then its onto Bay of Plenty into Ohope Beach and Whakatane before reaching the Coromandel.
Go as far North as I can, then find a nice place to out the tent (or a cabin) and must be close to some good local hospitality.
Sunday 27th August
Continue exploring the Coromandel until a complete circumnavigation is complete, then I am at the mercy of anyone else that decides to tag along!!
I dont care where I go as long as it is good!
Monday 28th August
The final day to make my home from wherever I am!!
Of course every day must take me to a new or interesting place, I am not a fast rider so I wont be setting any records.
Pm me if you are keen to tag along, feel free to tag along for the whole trip or part of it.
If you are a local and we are heading your way, also feel free to take us to any good places that you think we will enjoy.
