No I didn't. I recall back in the days when I was a worker bee going to work & it being all cold, dark & gloomy (well maybe not so dark) but by the time I got home at night it was dark & cold. Quite depressing :disapint:

Yeah.
Went for a walk at lunchtime and I thought, "This is nice. What am I doing at work?!?"
Yesterday was better though - it was so sunny that I thought "Feck this", put my gear on and went for a blat up to Albany and back.
As you do.
If you can.

Used'ta work in a foundry a couple of years back. For safety reasons it had no windows (in case it blew up and sprayed molten metal all over the nearest suburb). In winter, I'd get to work in the morning and it would be dark. By the time I left it would be dark. By the time spring rolled back round I was mostly translucent and had eyes the size of saucers.

Damn right its early, it was 7 degrees this morning in Auckland (thats cold for Auckland) when i rode to work, then add in a wind chill factor of 160kmh cough aaahhhh eeermmmm i mean 100kmh and think about how cold it is

C'mon guys, toughen up. So it's winter - just put on the thermal underwear, a balaclava and the glove liners, and rejoice in the miracle of the reborn day as the long-awaited rays of the nascent sun gleam and glint on the frost-bound world and light up the dawn with the promise of a glorious morning...
Or you could get in the car and turn the heater on ...

Ohhh please.....

I HATE THE COLD unless im in Queenstown

The cold is only good for some people who like skiing... Like me :sly:
Even then I screw my nose up at it.

Worse thing is picking up the frozen cat after its been outside to take a dump... or maybe having a shower in the morning with no bloody heater in the bathroom for some un-godly reason why my parents haven’t installed one...

Now you have the studenty luxury of remaining in bed until the sun is up and then some.. :Pokey:

I've been in BAB mode for 3 years now, and I still can't get over how good gear is now. I've got the liners in my jacket and trou, and I didn't bother with thermals this morning. It was 1C when I left and I didn't feel chilly at all at any point during my commute.

However I got an Ice Cream headache walking 50m to Fidel's to get a coffee after I got to work and got changed into work gear. :cold:

Yep, those were the days - although being on a student allowance makes it hard to own a nice bike.

The work car thermometer read 3.5 degrees C at 7.15 this morning - nice frost all over. :shit:

I start at 7.30am ish, half hour for lunch and off home anytime after 4.00pm, so can get a quick ride in after work. I do flexi time also, so can take time of in lieu if the weather's good.

I used to commute which meant leave home in darkness, get home in darkness - bugger that for a joke, I spent 10 hours a week sitting in a bloody car - now it takes 5-10 minutes each way.

I wish! :bleh: I have to be up by at least 9.30 for a 10am lecture!
Although I do get to see the nice middle of the day sunshine ;)

Very good! :niceone:
I guess if you still worked in the foundry you'd be "Gollum" instead of "El Dopa"?

Well here in Pomgolia I`ve had the week off and been cruising the beautiful Devon countryside in 30 degrees-ish.Got in a run of 500 kms yesterday, friggin throttle hand seized up at the end but passed through some scenery that rivals N.Z. on the days the sun comes out around these parts. Jim750 and Britstorm will back me up when I say the South Hams are not much short of ecstasy on a bike on a really nice day.Kind of awesome passing through Slapton Sands, gorgeous scenery but scene of one of WW2`s biggest f***-ups,Yanks on exercise first shot up loads of their own guys with live ammunition then were bush-whacked by German E-boats,more men were lost than on the Normandy landings.U.S. govt tried covering it up for years, makes you wonder what else they hid.Anyhow, bit sobering to take in the view then come across a Yank tank covered in poppies just down the road, locals for years were told to shut up or get arrested, welcome to the free world eh?

I met a Beaufighter Pilot in Christchurch (Devon) who told me about that particular incident. I convinced him to get it written up and it was in Aeroplane magazine a couple of years ago. He requested permission to attack the E-Boats but was denied and was told that he saw nothing and was to report nothing. Funny how he came home a little low on ammo and didn't report seeing any German aircraft.

Try starting at 8am four mornings out of five... Then add in a few early ones to go to the gym or to chase up work... Some people just dont realise how hard students have to work, though i must admit that i am enjoying my sleep-ins now I am on study break :D
