Does anyone know a good solicitor in the Waitakere area that has done a lot of limited licences that has a good rep with the local police?

Any tips for this whole process would be great too :)

Many thanks in advance.

How in gods name did you loose your license on a DNA ?!?!?

You may be wasting your time if your license has a few black marks on it already...unless your lawyer is good...mine said I had a 50/50 chance of getting accepted :/

So I didnt bother...saved a grand too

The chances are better than average if your job depends on your licence and if you have kids who need transport.

Yeah that was another factor...if you had dependants, I even told my lawyer that it is a full time job just looking after myself and I was a dependant unto myself....He gave me one of those looks :shifty:

it was a dangerous driving charge (or creative motorcycle riding as ive seen it described on here)

I got hit with a 6 monther back in June - but the court was favourable due to my letter of apology - but they still had to ban me as its mandatory..

was cruising down Hobby road late at night, overtook an unmarked car at 105 in a 50 zone...

I work as a boat broker, I work 5 days of 7 (on a rota) so i need to be able to ride 7 days a week, between 7am and 7pm and essentially only to the outskirts of AK (the marinas).

I spoke to my Rotorua lawyer, who couldnt really help as he's down there, apparently it all gets pre approved by the police before court, so having a good rep with the police is important.

I spoke to Fynn at BRONZE, and hes finding some stuff out for me too.

well it will do 140, and cruise extremely comfortably at 120, let alone get to 100 reasonably briskly..

Check this thread, says a lot about how to get limited license, also search, because there are a few others out there.
Good Luck!

Many thanks Kickingzebra,

I read that post last week and it was very helpful,

I may look at doing it myslef, like I mentioned, the court looked at me very favourably before, so at least ive got a good foundation to go on.

One thing I do need to know is:

You have a set 'territory' and the hours you can ride in that 'territory', if you get pulled over within that time and space, and not breaking the law (ie. a routine roadblock) Do you have to prove you are on work business?
Or are things like going into town in a work lunch hour to have coffee with a mate acceptable?

You can drive/ride anytime within the time that the court allows. When I lost my license for Reckless driving a few years back, I just picked any old lawyer to do the paper work and had to list what vehicles I would be driving at any given time eg company cars. I also had to keep a vehicle log book.

Dont know if the rules are the same now but if you jump in a car say and dont immediately fill in the log book with the date, milage and time and you get pulled over you can kiss good bye to the limited license.

I had an extensive driving history with the police for tickets etc but this was my first time before the court. My application flew through and I had 6 months disqualification and a $3000 fine

While, Semantics would come into play. You cannot have anybody in the car with you (unless they are driving) However, all the police have to go on should they pull you up is the paperwork, which is the documents the court issues, and your log book.
Now, if you were going into town to have a work related lunch with a potential client, and you noted that in the book, there wouldn't be a problem....

I may suggest, to add weight to your application, booking on a defensive driving course, or something like that, not based on skills, but rather attitude.
Then you can show the court that you are actively sorry, and are pursueing safer driving habits. etc etc.

Well in between the offence and court I passed my restricted, and the judge said I seemed genuinely sorry blah blah blah, so hopefully that will already be on there records.

First time offenses, if you have no drink driving record etc, they generally do give them (where there is genuine DEMONSTRABLE need eg affidavits etc)
Defensive driving is a good way to go, but doing that depends on age and how long you have had your restricted.

What have you done to the motor?

Morcs

A few bits and bobs.

More to do though..

A few bits and bobs wont make a dna do 140. A few bits and bobs would make a runner just do that.
Did you pay a shop to do it all then so dont really know?

or maybe just full of it?

I have no doubt in my mind there is a dna out there that can do 140. My runner would get to 70 or so well but anything after that was a strugle and it was faster than most other runners around. A runner is a similiar motor but its two stroke not four.

Morcs

It did 130 as standard,

Im keeping it all hush hush until Scooterfest and its feature in Petrol magazine

A fully tuned dna will do 160, with the longer straight tooth gearing.

It also beats 2t 180 from the lights (which im suprised at myself)

a tuned 50cc can put out 25hp, and a mildly tuned one (MHR/EVO 68 barrel + gear up) can reach 70mph easily enough...

whoever said Scooters were slow? ;)

texmo

So a standard gilera 180 dna is faster than a runner? because my runner would only do 128km/hr (gps).

Morcs
7th August 2006, 12:42
clock speed of course.

A 180 4t and 180 2t will be neck and neck until about 70mph, then the 2t will pull away.

Just like a tuned 210 4t, will be just as fast as a tuned 172 2t, until about 70mph.

I have ridden a dna 210 and runner 172 and can personally vouch for that.

2t's put out higher figures on the dyno though, but the 4ts have heaps of torque.

Not true I draged a standard DNA and my bike wasted it with easy from the mark well and truly.
How much HP is your bike putting out?

Morcs
7th August 2006, 12:54
no idea, going to run it on a dyno when its finished.

the full list of then will be:

Malossi Digitronic CDI
Malossi E13 Air filter
Malossi Powercam camshaft
Malossi Titanium valve springs
Malossi Torque Driver
Malossi Delta Clutch
Malossi Contrast spring
Malossi 10g Rollers
Malossi Multivar Variator
Malossi Racing front disk
Braking Race syntered front pads
Scorpion stainless Zaust system
May add a 34mm carb to that list, but $600... jeees

The 180 dna's transmission is pretty lazy compared to the 125, with lighter rollers that perk up a hell of a lot.

Back on topic.

Phone waitakere district court, asked for the form, they fobbed me off and gave me LTNZ's number, they told me its nothing to do with them, see the court.
Rang the court back, and had luck this time.

So anyone looking for the form in the Waitakere area, on the 1st floor, go to the criminal counter and ask for Marina (if thats how you spell it), lodging fee is $150 that you can pay there and then. Then when you have a completed form and avidavvit (spelling?) you then go to the police station for them to approve. Court date is usually 2 weeks after you lodge the fee.

Anyone want me to post a copy of the form on here when I pick it up?

kickingzebra
7th August 2006, 14:55
Yeah, please do, I was after a copy for records, seeing as court workers are sometimes quite reluctant to give them (presumably they don't know about them, and don't want to sound ignorant, so deny the existance thereof)

Ok, ill pick it up this week, scan into .pdf format and email it to you.
