Looked pretty on the ball and like the comentators said, I cannot understand why one of the judges failed to give it the full score. Would have been pretty messy had he not pulled it off. Thumbs up to the dude, not the sort of thing that Id ever consider doing, sure earnt that gold medal thats for sure.

I saw that and it looked truly awesome !!!
Especially how he landed perfectly as well with both wheels touching at the same time.

Was watching this with the missus yesterday, and she was well impressed as was I. Damn crowd didn't sit down for 15 minutes. His mom was thankful as all hell too. Apparently when he was out back preparing for it he said to her, "I think I'm going to do the double. If I get hurt, just remember that I love you, and I'm just having fun". Way to freak your mom out, eh?

And busting a trick like that on the 2nd day of X-Games when he's down for 7 more events? What a goddamn legend. :first:

Holy fuck, just watched that about 3 times in a row. Followed Travis's career off and on ever since he was doing small jumps on a minibike as a very young child. The guy is amazing. We are oh so lucky to have the likes of both him and Rossi riding in our lifetimes.

That's incredible to hear! I taped it since I had work and I've yet to see it

Maybe another few years practice on the Montesa and I'll be able to do some of that stuff :D

Yeah I was at the Cock & Bull last night, and I got a glimpse of it, and I thought, what the fuck? I didn't know that was doable on a motorcross bike. A BMX maybe, but I thought motocross bikes had too much angular inertia. Obviously just give it heaps of panic revs to keep it going around. No doubt people will be nailing themselves trying to replicate this trick... I reckon there might be the odd fatality.

That was fricken awesome.
Do you guys remember a couple years ago when everyone was just getting into backflips and now they are just expected, its amazing how people (especially guys like travis) just keep pushing the limits and coming up with new stuff. Truly amazing

Even the Great grandma was impressed.

I was not too sure about the way he was handed the rally on a plate like that. It would have been a impressive if Colin had recovered from the flip and won.

Saw the supermoto this morning, was late for work...

Dover can almost do a triple on a sports bike. He's just got to learn to hang on a wee bit longer.

Just watched 2005 Enduro at Erzburg. Was quiet funny seeing it now, as some of the Yanks (including Pastrana) were having some fun on a practice ski jump (lands in water) and Pastrana mentions doing triple back flips. All I could do is laugh and think "so that's where he practiced those".

On the event, very cool. There's a torrent of it. Other very cool riders including David Knight (who after seeing his performance at Last Man Standing and this event, would have to be one of the best ever riders. He just makes it look way to easy). Christian Pfieffer, who has won the event 4 times, cements his place as a complete nutter. Where most of the riders are on enduro/mx bikes, light, stripped, and struggling. Christian rides a freakin BMW (looks like a dakar), wasn't impressed with the lack of coverage they gave him, but he didn't finish, something about a seperated shoulder.

If you don't know about this event I'd certainly go do some hunting for some clips. 1300 riders "started" in the event in 2005. It gets whittled down to 500 for the main event on Sunday. From which less than 30 finished.

They generally pratice the harder stuff into a huge hole filled with cardboard boxes or foam, see drowning your bike aint the best idea

Yeah I've seen it a couple of times. Pastrana got a really good start but David Knight passed him in the trees. Pastrana DNF'd with a broken waterpump.

I wish they had shown more of the mega bore bikes e.g HP2 and KTM 950.

An amazing event!

Yeah I know. I just found it hugely amusing that he specifically mentioned "triple back flips", given what he just achieved.

Knight's an incredible rider and did what Pastrana thought he'd (Pastrana) do. Show up for the first time and blow everyone else out of the water. Whatever Knight has he's got it in bucket loads. I hear he won this year too.

Certainly would have been good to see more of Pfieffer. Doing it on an HP2 is just insane. Just goes to show his bike handling skills really are up there.

Would have been interesting to see the HP2 in those two rocky sections.

The DVD is supposed to have much more footage. To be honest the tv version just seemed like a telemercial for the DVD (didn't help that the torrent I got still had all the commercials left in).

People have done it into foam pits but only Travis has landed it on dirt, twice I believe.
