hehehe I had bought with the idea it may be a major but had a funny feeling it was an easy fix....

gonna charge the battery today and see how it holds.....

cant wait to take it out for a cane :innocent:

oh, and battery was 'dead' as such, just didnt have enough juice to crank it?
kinda like the LINK EMS I have in my gazelle, drops below a certain level and it doesnt want to know

Heh I know that bike. It used to get a fair bit of air over a speed bump outside our place several times a day! You can be sure there'll be no cobwebs to blow out of that one!

Did you check the tyre pressures?

Also, how does one turn an engine over by hand?

pressure are good, and you use a ratchet on the crankshaft bolt to turn it over by hand.

but i find it easier to use the starter button myself

Think ALL! (Not just some).

Anyways, well done on the purchase. I didn't read all posts, but I take it you gave the battery a good charge?
Don't muck around with a flat battery for too long on the CBR's, as they (well the bigger ones at least) will blow the Reg/ Rectifier if you do. I presume it is the same for the 250. Well, it isn't a good idea to charge any battery from flat using the vehicles charging system.

Good plan.
BTW, good to see you are getting rid of that "Tractor" on TM.
The 250 will run on the smell of fuel compaired to that.

adam666
10th August 2006, 21:58
lol, tis a good tractor though :)

and pretty economical considering, well alot more so than my gazelle with the 2l turbo :)

cbr should even the playing field though!

Yes, as the Anti Freeze is also Anti boil. While you are at it ensure the seal on the cap is good.
Also, when you refill the system make sure you get all the air bubbles out, as your water pump doesn't pump air very well. Don't know 100% how to do it on the 250's so somebody might have some good hints on it (and I'm lazy and get the shop to do it on the 600 while they are there).

Hope this sorts it for the little rocket.

Hi guys found a link for the Honda Common Service Manual (http://www.vf750fd.com/vf750f/index.html) if you are keen.

The manual is about half way down the page. I think it is the same as the one Adam has? Not sure, but it will help.

This site has some great tips in it too.

well,

the overheating problem solved! - 30% glycol mix and she sits on a real steady 1/3 on the guage! mint!!

so out for a blat today, cruising round not given it too much
definately needs the carbs tuned/balanced - pretty flat down low, then slight dropoff at about 8.5k until 10k when she starts screamin :)

took a quick detour down waiu st and opened her up, holdin till about 16k in 2nd and 3rd, stopped at the top for a sec only to notice fuel leaking from what looks ot be the 2nd or 3rd carby (from the throttle side ) :(

ah well, back in to pull it down again :p

fix the leak, tune/ balance from tss and I should be good for the 1/10/06 KB ride!!!

cheers

well, its running sweet

still experiencing a small leak from LH overflow tube, no real problem as shutting off the gas stops it. think its the float valve on # 3 or 4 not sealing properly.

had the carbs off and replaced the float bowl seals, everything else was real clean and no visual problems with float valves but who knows. not leaking as much since I pulled it down but still happening.

threw some Spitfire fuel sytem cleaner in tonight and took it for a run, hopefully thatll clean any crap out and save me pulling them out again just yet :p

also just reading that tapping on the carb can help free and shit? might give that a try too

WOF time on monday
