Hi Bungy Mungy,
in my option: the rg is by far the "best" bike overall of the 3 you have mentioned.
the fxr is prolly best for a first bike as its 4 stroke and harder to kill,
be looking between 1500 and $2500 for these bikes.
I might know of an rg coming up soon, will let you know if you like.

I'd start on the FXR if I was you coz 2 strokes are like women. They are temperamental, need lots of attention, are expensive to maintain, can be difficult to keep happy....but the payoff is more power and more fun.

I should also add that they can smoke heavily when you first wake 'em up and can be a bit smelly....but then that didn't really go with the similie.....or did it?

The FXR will be kinder to you and they'll all keep their value so long as you don't bin 'em.

My vote's for the RG , try and test ride all three if possible i guess , see which one takes your fancy .

I'd go for the FXR. If you've spent all your hard earned cash on the bike, the last thing you want to be doing maybe months later is rebuilding the motor..so buy a bike with a motor that will go the distance for you.

The amount of times i was off the road saving up for a new top end etc for my X7 and RZ350 was really frustrating, especially when all your mates are out riding and your stuck at home.

I am selling my RG150 at the moment, so if you are interested in taking it for a spin to compare, you are more than welcome. It is in hamilton, so if you are up these ways anytime soon drop me a PM...

Go the RG! An fxr is a fine cheap and sensible bike. But we dont ride bikes because we like to be sensible. Go for one of the other 2.

iv got a rg150, it eats everything! my 2 mates have got gn250's and it leaves them in its dust..not to bad for a starter bike and when you get use to the bike give it the gun! lol cant bet them, mine cost $1,900 second hand.

Before I recently got the RG I test rode the the other Suzuki 4-stroke 150s. I found the RG a lot more fun and faster too. However, 4-strokes a little more relaxed (less likely for those embarrassing newbie stalls with too few revs) and could be less maitainance.

What I really want to know is how the RG150 compares to the Kawazaki KR. I saw Magua's RG today parked next to a KR and was amazed how similar they looked. When I looked again I saw the frame is completely different. The RG looks like that of a 'real' sports bike - nice box sections - the KR thinner round frame and swing-arm.

How they do vs the RG?

Has anyone who's saying the rg150 is by far the best actually ridden a kr150? Those KR's aren't bad bikes, and I doubt there'd be much in it at all between a KR and an RG. If you could get either for a similar price I'd pick the one that's got the better service history and looks like it's been kept under cover!

From what I've seen the KR's not too tempermental as long as you change the plugs every few thousand k's. Not bad on gas or oil either, and they'll happily take a good thrashing (and crashing!).

Thanks for the input. I ended up getting a year 2000 Kr150A because it was local and in good nick. Also i like the more square look of it over that of the fxr. Sadly couldn't find a rg within my price range that was local.

Yeah, I figure get the KR - parts availability. And I think its better built. Seen more dead rg150's on this site than KR's. Lets not forget which bike keeps winning the 150 streetstock?

Ive found my KR to be an excellent little bike. Ive also found it to be an excellent learners bike and through rigorous testing have found them to crash really well! I have done just under 15000 K's in the past year on mine and have found it to be very economical for a 2 stroke. Tank of gas anywhere around $10 and it does 150-170 odd k's. In the past year I have only had to purchase 3 or 4 bottles of oil (fully synthetic) I change the spark plug every few thousand k's and thats all of about $6. Id say take them all for a ride and see what YOU like. You might not like any of them....

The 2-strokes are fine if you keep them upto scratch, but personally I prefer 4-stroke, I'm willing to sacrafice a little power (if that can be said for 150's lol) for less hassle in running it. :)

Hmmm...good choice with the KR.

If I were to do it all again, I wouldn't buy an FXR. I do alot of riding with others and almost always I have the slowest bike and get left for dust on the straights. It's very frustrating having your throttle wide open and wacthing everyone dissappear into the distance. Bring on the full!!

But thats only cause its faster than yours even with a girl riding it eh? :msn-wink: You really should take the chance to have a ride on my KR before I sell it. Even Glenn enjoys riding it, its so much fun :D im gonna miss her...
