Avoid Gorilla alarms. Too basic, a kid can get past them.
Go for Mongoose, or Viper if you don't mind the extortionate price.
Call Brett at Mobile Alarm Specialists in Te Rapa Rd, he does installs for most of the local bike dealers. Tell him Lou sent you.

don't go too cheap, my $99 warehouse self install doesn't work to the point i don't even use it any more.
The best would be an ultrasonic sensor that picks up on people getting close to the bike, if they start to pick it up and the alarm goes off they might shit themselves and drop it A.K.A. the Two_Smoker incident

I've got a Mongoose Striker MCA500 that's never been used.
It would be too difficult to fit it to the Nordie.
Remote start and everything.
$150 if you want it.
Assuming I can find it...

I Hve had a mogoose striker alarm (remote starting) fitted to the TL and I would NOT recommend mobile alarm specialists in Te Rapa straight!!!
I have had nothing but trouble with the alarm, often not working correctly. I have been back to get it fixed about half a dozen times, now i give up and dont use it anymore.
Aalso they didn't fit it correctly, meaning that it could start in gear... which it did one day, and jumped over, smashing fairing, screen, and wingmirrors etc. Do you think that they paid for any of this, FUCK NO!
rant over, i'm glad to hopefully take business away from them, jsut my opinion of course, the owner seems nice, but im sure I have had only second rate gumbies working on my bike their

Now that's funny, I sell you my MCA500 coz it was a bit tricky to put on my MV F4 and then you do the same :cool2:

Have a mate working at driving sound who steered me away from Autowatch ones (apparently the models he was used to were easy to defeat), and insisted the Viper alarms were the shiznit.
For cars anyway...

My CBR has one of these installed. Never had any probs with it, nice and loud, has good adjustable settings and good remote unit. Certainly gives me peace of mind when I park it someone concealed for a short period of time. Usually I don't need to arm it because it is locked in my garage at home and parked right outside my window at work! The remote start freaked a few people out too!

Mine came installed with the bike, so I didn't have to put up with the hassles of installing it.

Yeah you can have some fun with the reomte start, my fav is scaring little kids as they walk past. They're all like 'ooh look at the motorbike" and then "ooh its beeping" and the 'waaaahhhh' as it starts up with there little heads getting blown back by exhaust fumes. Mwhahahah.. mmwhahaha!!!!

:niceone:
The only place I can fit it is inside the airbox  and I'd rather use that for air.
Damn motards.
It's been gathering dust since I got it off you.
Be nice to keep it in the family :niceone:
Anyone want it just ping me at fran@mobilecomputing.co.nz
Bike shop up town has them for about $300 new.

Autowatch is a good product. But it's not bike specific. It isn't waterproof and it may not stand up to bike vibration. I don't think the remotes are water resistant either.

I want remote start, I wonder how much the hydraulic ram onto the kick would cost?

went to mobile alarm specialists today.
Recommended the Viper 200 over the Mongoose MCA500 - (btw both cost the same fitted $450)
The viper doesnt have remote start but has a 2 stage knock sensor and a mercury tilt switch is standard - the control unit isnt as weather proof as the mongoose, but the hand remote is far better protected.
:argh:
anybody got a Viper fitted who can help
Thanks heaps
