I'm managing to hang onto the DR by a thread, but its a thin thread, and a bit frayed. I hope like crazy that I can keep her to see her finished.

Oh well, I gave it a shot. The bike is being viewed by a serious prospective buyer in 2 weeks, I'm guessing this guy will buy it, as he is a DR enthusiast.

Sorry you don't get to see the finished product.

STOP THE PRESS

Through a series of events bordering on the miraculous, Project DR has been ressurected from the dead. On or around Thursday, I will be receiving a whole DR 250, which I got for a bargain, and it has a fully functioning powerplant.

My prospective buyer refused to purchase the bike after viewing it, stating that he could not possibly take it off me, after I had obviously spent so much time making it look that good, which was a nice shot in the arm for me. Instead, he offered to keep an eye out for the necessary hardware I needed to finish it, and he did exactly that.

Soooooo..........sometime in the next couple of weeks, you will start seeing a few more updates, and not long after that, hopefully within 3-4 weeks, a finished bike.

Not fully, but as a large number of KB'ers own firearms, I'm sure I could end it pretty quickly. :P Screw the stupid cow I say, I've been looking after my immediate flock, and she can go get jumped on.

I have arranged for the DR to be picked up tomorrow, and I should see the old girl on Friday, which will mean lots of weekend fun !!!!. If I am crafty, I might end up with 2 working DR's, and lots, and I mean LOTS of spares.

If you know someone who needs DR spares, I have made a fair bit of dough selling parts online, but still have lots left, so get them in touch with me, and I'll do them a sharp deal.

Freightlines collected the bike from our Albany branch yesterday at about 1pm, so I am on target to get the bike Friday. If it made it onto the right units, I could even see it tomorrow.

I feel like a 7 year at Christmas time....... so much anticipation.

Kro, I have been reading your progress, I did the same to a XL250 some years ago and the whole thing can be quite consuming. I hope it all goes well for you. I just got my hands on a mint DR350, so if it's photos you like, I'll post some soon.

I have the second bike, and can now start stripping it to get the bits I need for this bike, and at the same time, I have started a second edition thread for the other DR, which I can make a runner out of, albeit a bit of a patchy one.

Looking forward to the pic's, though I'm mildly curious what will be left of the 2nd one as delivered by the time you've got it finished :).

I reckon we should do a ride once this is all done, I figure I can't be the only one who thinks you deserve a good ride & getting shouted a beer afterwards.

Thanks Taki, although with you in Paihia, I'm thinking our ride together is going to be difficult :P

Wow, the second bike looks nice (figuratively speaking)

The RG project is going slow cause of lack of money and time due to school. Eventually I'll have the money for sandblasting and powdercoating and the project will be back running :D

The mighty DR has had a heart transplant.

I woke up this morning, and thought "f*ck it", I am not waiting to fiddle around with swapping good top ends onto my original good bottom end, and all that drama, I am going to make a damn side cover gasket, to replace the leaky one that the running motor has, and just jam the damn thing into my good DR frame.

So, I did just that............... still got a couple of hours work to get it to where I could start it, hopefully I get a chance to do that today as well.

Completion date is nigh.........watch this space.
