For thoes of you who didn't know, I used to be a car freak a few years back. Well a mate just happens to pop into my house this evening and says "look what I just bought!" and I was like "Oh you little prick! as I saw the MR2 GTS turbo" The car that I always wanted but never could afford back in the days.
Anyways, I tell him to chuck me the keys and we go for a lil drive. We somehow ended up in the twistes all of a sudden. The next 30mins was pure enjoyment like a full half an hour of orgasm. It actually felt that good. That car was spot on with its handeling. I could chuck it into corners real hard and it would just do exactly waht I told it to do with plenty of juce to launch off corners.
I have to be a little honest. Maybe this honesty will make me the most disreputable member of KB but here it goes. I actually enjoyed that more than riding my GIXXER!!
Is it ok to feel this way or I am a freak who shouldn't be called a biker cause I have been unfaithful?

Life is too short to worry about what other people think of you.

those MR2's are freaks of desighn -they go and turn and handle like nothing under $10000 should.
The concequences of a stuff up are just that little bit further away in a fast tin top than it will ever be on a bike.
To me its like driving a PS2 with a big screen
Biking is being in ya own movie.

Sudeep! those MR2's are ujndoubtly nice/good cars - being turbo i take it you are talking of the SW22?
But mate! have you tried the AW11 with 4a-gze engine? Stock supercharged 4age motor! YEEEHAW! mate those SW22's are bigger, more bolbuss and just dont have the same chisel cut nose! mark1 MR2 SW = just an awesome car with the ONLY gripe being that if you plant it hard and slam it into a corner the car doesnt drift much, instead it picks the front off the ground and bulldozers it straight ahead... but a cement bag in the front beside each wheel arch helps with this!

Don't be silly. I always wanted that car, too. It's like having an NSX for 1/20th the cost.

Hey, most motorcyclists enjoy a good performance vehicle full stop.
I assure you M/R, the novelty of owning a fast car and no bike soon wears off. Especially when your mates are going for a ride or a track day. Best to have both.
I went without a bike for 6 months when I had my E38 and although I loved that cage with all my heart, I still got the shits with not being part of the bike scene. Except on Friday nights when totally unknown chicks are trying to climb in the car at traffic lights :innocent:

Cars are what I do all day every day and have never really been interested in them,I just use them.Apart from setting my VWs up for fast gravel road driving the only fast car I had that excited me was done by accident - I got a diesel Escort van with a stuffed motor and dropped a petrol 1600 Xflow into it....unknown to me it was rally spec and I spent 4 yrs trying to make it run right. It was a shock to find it was the best handling front wheel drive car I've ever driven,a hell of a lot of fun in the wet - I could hold a line where ever I wanted it under full throttle wheelspin.Tall gearing and a cammy engine meant it was happy cruising at 100mph,it was a bit of a sleeper.

I think that if a car can make you feel like that for a whole 30 mins then your definately entitled to feel that way!!

If you like bikes, then you like good-handling performance cars too.
We've got two Peugeots and a Subaru Vortex (the latter now out of favour), and to be honest, the Peugeots give me more smiles than the bike does, as their handling is superb. Even though the 306 is my wife's, she usually gets me to drive it when we go places, and it is an absolute delight in the twisties. Every time I get into the bends in the country, I'm amazed at how much of a "driver's car" it is. I haven't yet managed to squeal the tyres (Continentals) and I reckon its limit exceeds mine by quite bit. The motor could do with a bit more oomph (it's the 137 bhp 16-valve version), but the handling is great.
The other Peugeot (the "Go Kart") is insane - it's a 205 GTi, weighs 870 kg, and has a brilliant 130 bhp 8-valve motor. The thing seems to have torque everywhere, and it's VERY hard not to spin it up taking off, even fitted with low-profile Michelin Pilot Sport tyres. I can only imagine what some of the other 205 powerplants feel like - there are 16-valve engines (like the 306 has) with 250 hp, and turboed versions with 460!
So what's wrong with appreciating good machinery of any kind? It's nice to be cossetted in a nice warm car, listening to your favourite CD, while fanging through some nicely linked bends. :2thumbsup

Ill always love quick cars. Have had the chance to ride in plenty of scary vehicles, 911 turbos (3 of them), 550 maranello, RS6, TVR Griffith, mini de joux GT race car.
yum. Currently have a twin turbo VR4 sedan which keeps me entertained. Nearly bought an Evo 7 a little while ago though, so tempting!

Never been in any scary vehicles, apart from a race boat. :(
Mind you, test-driving the 205 through central D'Auckland with my 17 YO son driving was pretty scary.... :eek5:

KK- Yea it was the 90-95 shape. That turbo model is a rocket, I am gunna try to buy one when I can. Na, I havent tried the one you are talking about. I've just had a go on a cheap rip off of it with a bogged motor and that was slow. I definetly like old skool MR2s as well! Though no where near as fast but its more nimble and feels even more like a go kart.
JR- Imagining that its a Ferrari 355 does the trick for me.
RIB- I'll try to get it on two wheels next time for ya. :niceone:
WT- Your on da money and you too Mr stormer, thanx!
Racey- Didn't you know why I was standing up for sk8r_boi back when he was getting bashed?
Phase- PM me lol.
Devil- You lucky lucky man!
Mr Stormer- Try going pillion on a fast sports bike. It usually scares most grown men!

Well if you've had a fast boat then you've had the best of the lot.
Iv'e had a couple of jet boats and they rock like nothing else on earth.
The big dream is an 18footer with a 400chev set up by bruce Roberts.
Mr Roberts took a couple of mates an I up the Whakatane river on a hunting trip one year.Man 100mph on the water is like (stuff that I'm walkin' out). :eek5:
Nothing will ever be the same again. :niceone:

"Mr" is it? I'm not usually recorded such respect. My boss calls me "Muttley" (but then he calls most people that. Except his boss...)
As for the pillioning thing, no, I don't like pillioning even on slow bikes. However, in "the old days" I did many a mile on the back of my mate's (and his brothers' bikes), and got very good at interpreting what he was up to. Like I didn't blow off the back of his BSA when he laid down on the tank at 80 mph, and I somehow just knew he was going to open up the Z900 when he did 95 mph up my street one night.
Scariest thing was doing 95 mph down our road on the back of a T500 my sister's boyfriend was riding. In the middle of the day. On a Saturday.
Phark. It's a wonder I'm still alive, thinking back on some of the silliness I've been through...

Well if you've had a fast boat then you've had the best of the lot.
Well, it was my wife's cousin's promo boat, and was a racing waterski boat, equipped (IIRC) with a 240hp outboard and racing prop. It could do 0-145 km/h in just a few seconds (dunno how many eggszachary), and felt pretty damned fast, faster than any car I've been in. The acceleration felt akin to that you feel when taking off in a plane, but with the wind rushing past it felt a damned sight faster.
Shortly after that he flipped it in a race, and was lucky to escape with just mild concussion. He gave up ocean racing after that...

You need to try a Porsche 996 turbo in first gear :D (manual, not tiptronic).
I nearly crapped my pants.
Then again, the TVR Griffith was nuts. Weighs one tonne and torque just oozing out of every crevice. No traction control, no abs. WHOOOOOSH. and the noise! *drool*

Hah. Nah, all of the above had been owned by a mate of mine. All those experiences were from the passenger seat (which kinda makes it a bit more scary!).
Only doomy cars ive personally driven were the Evo 7 and a 400BHP+ BMW850. Oh and my VR4 :D WHEEEEEEE

I drive so many cars a day they bore me shitless, most often the ones that are supposed to excite me.One so called supercar that really did impress me was a 928 - monstrous feet on the back with an LSD...and it just peeled out sideways from the curb both tyres smoking in perfect control like I do this everyday - bit of an ego stroker.
Huh,that reminds me - I used to service some old ladies Chrysler with a 390 in it...on crossplies! Turning right at a stop sign was fun - just floor it and pivot to the right, back off, then drive quietly through the haze!

My mate works at the docks part time. He transports all the flash new cars to and from the ship and yard. Man he gets to have some fun with some pretty flash toys. Evo 7-8s, New WRXs, 2004 745s, M5s and M3s, the whole lot. He basically gets to go for a good hoon on all of them.
The lucky cunt! :sly:

Ive driven a few VR-4's, and while fun and exciting, they didnt scare me like the bike does..... Its like when on the bike, i think im going too fast enter the corner get my knee down, right on the limits of the bike...... Shit my pants and have massive adrenilin boost because it was soooo scary and fun at the same time, then it happens all over again with the next corner.......
I enjoy driving cars but i love riding bikes.......
I think you will change your mind after the ride on sunday LOL........

Aahh, not quite. If you've heard the Honda V6 at 8000 rpm just behind your shoulder you'll know that no MR2 is like it. Aural sex!

If MR2 is a GSXR-600 then the NSX is a GSXR-1000.
Anyways, I did some thinking and yep, I have come to a conclusion. Most of you are right about just missing what you don't have.
I definetly absolutly love bikes and everything that goes with them (adrinelin, fun, scary factor and the culture, people, uniqueness etc etc) but since I am a little bit of a speed freak I do enjoy the higher cornering speeds of a car. Riding a bike takes a lot more skill and you are doing work and having fun at the same time. Sometimes its good though to just relax and have fun in a car cause they are a lot easier to go fast in.
Solution: Best to have both as the wise Mr Trash said (if you can afford it anyway :()

I agree, if can you afford it have both, I've got my Sporty and what I call my "motorcycle car", a 950kg kit car with no roof and no side windows, it's fitted with 302 Ford and 5-speed, 2-seater, got the get-upand-go of a bike, the draughts/wetness/smells etc that a bike gives you but it has 4 wheels, a bunch of fun and look-grabber.
Also got other toys so never get bored with one thing.
Each has their place and to each their own choice of fun :ride:
