This little lady has been around our place for awhile,I didn't really notice her much until she had a couple of kittens in the Valiant Pacer that sits in the corner next to my neighbour.....the one with 4 cars in his back yard, not the otherside who has 10 on the front yard.So we watched the frollicking kittens over summer - and it dawned on me a little late that the family has no home.....I tried to catch the kittens, but they have had no human contact and are now cunning as a stray cat is.

I still don't know if someone owns them, they all look well fed and healthy.I have worked on the mother all year, not offering food, but offering encouragment. At first just getting close enough to touch her tail, then a stroke...it's been hard work. But now she runs up the drive when I come home,I can pick her up for a cuddle.....and the Double AA Plus of a nose butt,I think she thinks I'm a good guy.I cut her flea collar off a few weeks ago, another clue that no one cares for her.....and sometimes she'll come inside for a little while, but not long.

Over the weekend with all the rain I kept looking out onto the back porch to see if she was there looking for shelter - but it faces north/noreast,so the rain was pounding in.But on monday evening with a southerly she was sitting huddled on the doormat,so I brought her in to the warmth. She stayed most of the evening, doing a full grooming and getting lot's of attention.

She's a cute gal for a casual visitor eh? Who wouldn't want a cat like this....why abandon her?

When your cooking it, dont use to much seasoning. You will find that the meat is already very flavoursome.

Nice one - I guess time will tell if they adopt you as their personal project! Looks like a nice cat and yeah, who would abandon one looking like that? Sounds like another "pet" project in the works! :sunny:

well done!! shes a beaut!

we had our wee chap dumped over our front fence new years 05...couple of
kids chucked him and ran. dad picked him up and dropped him over the neighbours!! needless to say, said kitten found a way back, and into dads heart. tippy is now the most spoilt cat youd ever meet...hes curled up on my bed, with a woolen blanket, plus lecky blanket on. typical...hes right in the middle.

We had a black and white cat that would turn up and stay for months at a time, was in rural Naki at the time, we then moved about 4k down the road and about 18 months later the same cat turned up for a few months again. Cats their weird things.

We live in an area where there are lot of students we had 5 cats and now we have 3 due to 2 being run over and none of them belong to us really just cats that people have left behind. Sad really.

why abandon her?

Because it's a fuckin' cat.

Because it's a fuckin' cat.

Adopted, were we? Don't worry the cat probably wouldn't have hung around your place either - it knows when it's onto a good thing!

Lovely moggy Motu, very cute! I want two kittens soon - when the neighbours (the ones with the nasty tom cat that has done heaps of damage to our cats over the past eight months) move out next month. Can't wait, they are so cute when they are tiny! Keep up the good work, Motu.

That would make a great stir fry.

I have a really good recipe if you want it.

The fur could be used to make a nice seat cover for your bike.

So I guess she is going to have another litter this year, maybe some ginger ones by the look of the toms I seen around. So do I pay to get someone elses cat spayed? Peoples lack of responsability to animals is a bit depressing.

I still don't know if she has an owner....maybe my other neighbours are feeding them, the male kitten is now huge (and gone from cute to a criminal look to his eyes),can't get that well built from scraps. The female kitten is gorgeous, fluffy black with a white bib.She may be from a couple of doors down - the couple split up and both walked out....the neighbours pulled down the back fence so they could get the big stuff like fridges out....

At least she know's where she can get some TLC.

When we moved onto our lifestyle block four years ago we brought two cats with us.
I noticed one or two stray/wild ones around.
End result, we now have 13 cats.
And being softy suckas we got in and had them all neutered, but not quick enough.
Fuck did I lose some skin getting them in the cages to go to the vets!
Now they're all settled and good pets, but only 5 come inside, the rest are content to live in the hay barn and laundry via cat door in the winter.
One consolation....our place is the only around that has no rabbit problems now. Not a lot of Quayles left either.
22 large cans of cat food a week, 8 litres of milk, 4 large pots of fresh meat, about $80.........still cheaper than kids!!!!
Not counting the 5 horses, 3 dogs and 6 chooks and a rooster!

I personally prefer kitten....

Small and only a little fury, not big and hugely fury! :blip:

Call it personal preference.

Boy, that thread started off pretty nicely (what a cute cat, by the way) but it sure did degenerate (in an amusing yet predictable way) by the end!

Good work, everyone...!
