Primarily aimed at 250's and beginners, but hey, all welcome :)
Any Ideas shout out,
Mav

At that time on a Sunday morning Lloyd Ellsmore has a decent sized car park that is generally empty enough for bikes to congregate. Botany Town Centre and Westgate Pakuranga will be starting to fill up with happy shoppers at that time of day. I'll need to ask the missus for permission though but I'd be keen. Don't want to give away any ideas of a route in case mr plod wants to stake out the route to catch me doing 75kph with an L plate on!

Yeah, Lloyd Ellsmore sounds good to me, perhaps PM me any route ideas?
I have my R test at 0730 that morning, so all going well I hopefully wont have to worry about the L plate anymore ;)

McJim
10th August 2006, 13:07
Sorry Hellraiser - I'm being genuine here - where is BP Botany?
There used to be one on Botany Road near Pakuranga Golf club but that's now part of Buy Right Cars.
Is there another BP nearby?
Maverick

Otherwise we could meet by the car wash at Shell Botany downs?

Often used for rides out east, sometimes south. Like papakura autobahn and shell westgate.

13th August 2006, 14:02
Aye,
I got home fine - found the wind a bit gusty on the Southern Motorway and was battling the odd heavy shower but then that's what it's all about innit?
A highly enjoyable Sunday - sorry if I held you guys up too much on the outward leg.

yea good ride
not a bad turnout of 250's considering the weather
twisties with mud and ditches(couldnt really call it a pothole!!!) kept things interesting...would be a very nice route to go over in the dry.
cheers mav!

Yep, some of the corners today were at least as deadly as the ones on the road to Piha - there are probably some other undiscoverd routes out East - need to spend an evening with some beer and some maps.

or go on rides with the more experienced kb'ers to find em... or talk to them...
Not knowing where you went (and you don't say publicly either) there are probably a few more... and there are a few more again, that I want to see if they are actually allowed as such (not closed or private)

A good day out today - surprising how much clear weather we had and timed it to perfection by arriving at the pub just as the heavens eventually decided to open up.:apint:
By the way how is it that everyone disappeared as soon as we hit the MW, my speedo under-reading or something? Bloody 150cc :oi-grr: That bikes got some poke!

All in all a good day - no one binned which is always good. Despite being a bunch of Learners/restricted licence holders it was a good display of safe riding - of course I didn't see what you got up to on the Motorway coz I headed off early.

I was going to but I'm on the BRONZ RRRS course that day....so still supporting the cause as it were and hopefully learning some tips that will prolong my life!
I'd hoped to see you out there today Hellraiser..maybe next time?

Well two riders floored it when we got to the m'way, I was at the back,
then you guys were doing 100, and I cruised past at about 110?
got up to a decent speed at one point, (not telling) but you guys never seemed to catch up, never caught the first two either.

Yeah I'm soft i spend all week on a my bike rain, hail or shine so riding in the wet ain't much fun for me. I don't mind riding in the rain i just HATE wet roads.
No use doing it if you don't enjoy it.

You weren't to know beforehand - we got pretty good weather the whole way out - closed in when we got inside the pub (like 15 seconds after the last of us got in!) I got a soaking on the motorway home coz I left early. All in all 7 blokes not a bad turnout for Mav's first organised ride.
Well done Mav.
