Took the CBR out for the first time today and rode it to work!! woohoo

although there seems to be a problem with the thermo switch/fan assembly as its getting really hot (ie had to pull over twice in my 15 minute ride to let it cool down)

but man what a cool ride!! hehehe

first time riding over wainui hill felt a bit sketchy, but all good fun!!

should definately be round for the next wgtn meet up!!

cheers

Sounds good dude. Wainui Hill is fun eh? Kinda claimed one of our owns' bike recently so take it easy. Took a detour over there this morn, was a bit nervous about how wet it was on the way though.:niceone:

check your theromo stat hasn't jammed shut.

That happened to my GPX 250 causing it to over heat.

Oh and good shit with the new bike!!

With cold weather like we are having I'd be surprised if its a thermo switch/fan problem. You'll need to look deeper for it. Maybe the temp gauge reading is wrong, or you've got a flow problem - pump or blockage or something. Thermostats usually fail open but still worth checking that as well.

hey merv,

looks like my fan temp sensor may be faulty as it wont switch the fan on, so I tested by connecting wire to sensor body and works ok. but that aside, even with he fan running its still over-heating.

waiting for the pressure tester to arrive so I can test the whole system in situ before I start pulling bits off :innocent:

oh, and have found it had no glycol watsoever so maybe just been boiling the plain water?

will have to wait and see

cheers
