That's right, Bankers. :nya:
A wee while back I got some mail that said the bank doesn't have an up to date Master Account Mandate for me and provided one for me to sign and take in to the bank.
Now I know it gives the bank authority to tell me how much money I have, operate my accounts, debit/credit as needed etc. What I want to know is:
1) worst case scenario if I don't send it in
2) is there anything in it that could possibly work against me

This thread caught my eye, but it isn't about me after all.

Bloody banks. When it's sunny, they want to sell you umbrellas. Then when it rains, they want them back again.

Hook your fingers in the corner of your mouth and pull outwards and then say "banker".

Ask them which Terms and Conditions have changed that have caused your old existing mandate (that you signed when you opened your first account with them) to become obsolete.

I would of thought the National Party - the Labour Party has a job,no matter what a mess they make of it....but we still pay the bastards that got voted out!

The job of the opposition is to keep the criminals (oops, gubbinment) in line and on their toes no matter what...
I hear the foriegn minister (the one without any baubles) has recovered nicely. Just a shame about the spider - they couldn't get any anti-venom to it in time...

A mandate is basically your instructions to the bank. If they don't have a mandate from you then it will not be able to draw cheques, process direct debits ets. They may need to update the mandate for new technology who knows. Just read it carefully and if you are unsure about anything give them a jingle.

If they weren't paid for the privalige the bastards would work hard to make sure they got in next time - I object to paying the pricks who got voted out...you are out,or you are in,end of story.

Damn - its one of those catch22 thingymabobs.
If you left labour and their pals in by themselves they would be spending all our money on naughty things, pulling fingers all over the show, bringing in cheap immigrant labour for themselves, and passing all sorts of ill thought out unwanted stupid laws that they think are good ideas.
But on the other hand you are right - the other buggers would have to work really hard at getting us to believe they wont do that if we vote them in next time.

Just check for any mention of returning their umbrella and the formula they intend to apply as interest while you had it.

For years the slang term for irish currency was "punt" and it rhymed with the slang term for bank managers.

One of the guys I work with came back from a Sth East Asia holiday, and had some bloody currency from Thailand? in his wallet, and he comes up to me, and says, " do you want to see some dirty old dong?". To which I replied, "no thanks, I'll have a look at my own later", not realising that the currency of Thailand is "Dong". We had a good laugh over it all, but I'm still wary of the lad to be honest.

It seems to be mainly updated to cover online banking stuff. They highlighted a couple of bits which were specifically for internet banking that wouldn't have been there when the original account was opened way back in the dark ages.

I think this is an important issue that we have to work together on in order to achive the results that the public demand of such a civil servant. As new zealanders I find these issues to be at the very core of all of our cores. Now is the time for action! Stand up and vote!
