I'm going to make my little GN250 into an army bike, like this dorky looking guy in the second photo below.
I've been looking high and low for green heat-resistant paint, and nobody seems to have any. Repco No, Supercheap No, Paint shops No.
Does anyone make it? The first pic below is of a bike with the engine painted, so somebody must make it, but is it available in NZ?

Try the military...but I suspect it's Matt Black BBQ paint with matt khaki/green on top of it - even when it peels it'll just add to the ratty authenticity of the thing.

I spoke to the people I buy paint from and they said that standard 2K car paint is good for between 150 and 180 degrees, you could use 2K and mix a matting agent into it that way you will have a matt finish and you could get any colour you wanted.

Dude, you rock! That is exactly the clever kind of info I needed. Rep points to you.

Yes, engine enamel is good but nobody does green. So I've done it in black instead, and it looks okay. Here's a pic before and after picture of what I've done so far, but there is still heaps to do.
I'm going to attach some ammo tool boxes, paint the tank and side-covers a little darker green, eleminate all chrome with flat black or green, stencil a big red star on the tank, and stencil some military-style lettering on the sidecovers/tank too.
It's very much for fun, and fun is what bikes are all about for me.

Not to sure why you wanted to paint such a mint GN but each to their own. Looks cool. Are you going to fit a mounted gun? hehe
Keep in mind however that bikes get missed enough even without camo paint, watch out for those half asleep cage drivers because they will pull out when you least expect it.

Yeah, it was quite a mint shiny one, but for years I've been wanting to paint or modify my cars, do something out of the ordinary.
My parents and friends always said "Think of the resale value, you'll lose thousands" but when I got my first motorcycle, I realised that bikes are all about having fun, being out there and doing your own thing in the wind. Also, you can't lose much resale value on an $800 GN250 which is 20 years old!
I'd love to mount a gun, but I fear that would qualify as a dangerous fitting. We'll see!

You sound like me. Only I've never had the money to go ahead and modify
I've just bought a remote control car. I'll get my modding fix from that for now
And get a rifle holster on the side. When it's parked up it'll look like the owner is carrying a gun with them. It'll be a detterent from being stolem

GET REAL !!! You will make a mint selling this. Especially with all the rest of the gears. I am sure some interested party would love this bike to tend their .... pine trees. Just need semi trail tyres perhaps ? Love the front guard, very clever.

Great! I will check again, the guys at Repco reckoned they didn't even make green. Thanks Mr Master. I like your leather jacket quote by the way, where did it come from?
[Later edit] Oh duh, it's that song, by... the Muttonbirds? Nice NZ.
