Hey guys and girls.

For MissSnipers Birthday I will be paying for her to sit her restricted motorcycle test. The only problem is at the moment her bike is off the road with some rather large and expensive repairs (not accident) and maintenance pending :pinch:

We havent sorted a date or time yet, but it wont be far, would there be anyone in CHCH kind enough to loan her a 250 or less (maybe with a L plate attached?[I know beggars cant be choosers]) for a day beforehand so she can get used to it and of course on the day so that she can get her restricted?

I will be give the bike back with a full tank of gas and also beer or chocolate or some sort of thank you type thingymabob.

Thanks

S

EDIT: Or know of a place you can hire one?

I have an L plate ya can borrow.

I have heard that you can sit it on a scooter but I don't think she'd like to do that, and I'd have to get permission...

Of course you can sit it on a scooter as long as it is registered as a motorcycle and has a current WOF. I do have a spare bike but it has some small problems like not idiling and needing 1 fully charged battery and 2 km to get it started and warmed up.

Thanks guys. I'll keep the scooter thing in mind. I think I know a place you can hire them. She managed to sit her basic handeling cert on a scooter, Im sure she wont mind doing her restricted

I think the only thing to watch is that the scooter is over 50cc, so it is classed as a motorbike, if it is under 50cc then its not applicable for a motorcycle licence.

I remember Vietch in dunedin mentioning people had sat restricted on a scooter before. Part of the reason we got it for MsM rather than shelling out big dollars for a 250

The other thing you could do Sniper, if you're er.. game, is apply for an exemption to ride a larger motorcycle for the day/duration of the test. Get her to practice in a car park. I remember when I went to get my CBTA full license (not when I did the course - six months after when I went to get my bit of paper), there was a guy sitting his full from restricted on a harley

I know this thread was started a few weeks ago, but do you still need the bike? I have my wee Marshin here if you want to borrow it. Its only 200cc, and is trail/road but very easy to ride! I live in St Albans too so very handy!:scooter:

Awesome, sounds good. Mine is running ok (aparent from the speedo being 10kms out for some reason), and I just passed my restricted on it this morning!

Congrats dude. Yea the FZR is a frustrating toy, but its useful to get licenses and get her to work and back

Congrats to nigelp and good luck to MissSniper although i bet she wont need any.

Sounds like your sorted now but anyhow I hear you can hire a bike for a hour or two for doing tests on from Sportzone Suzuki (i think it was them.. lemans knows)
