View Full Version : Auckland: Raglan mission!!! September 15th to 17th

‘Escape’ is a young adult youth camp that will be held in raglan for 18yrs to late 20s.
Food and accommodation for the weekend is only $60.
I am planning on going to this camp and am keen to ride down from Auckland, and it would be mean if I had someone to ride with. (all gear can be loaded into the cages)
There is lots of ‘free time’ when pretty much everyone will head to the beach for a surf etc; I plan to use this time to explore the roads in the area.
I’m technically a ‘leaner,’ (may have restricted by sept) but I’ve been ridding for a year now and like a med to fast pace ride.
So anyone keen?

Camp Raglan
Camp stuff… bomb fire, archery/rifle range, flying fox, confidence course, BMX bike trails, beach, table tennis, basket ball, volley ball(indoor and outdoor), surfing, orienteering, eeling, Burma trails, and other electives to be announced. (I recommend my ‘unofficial’ elective which entails going for a CANE in the country side!!!)
Yes this is a Christian camp, put on by a west Auckland church
'Encounter Christian centre'
I’ve been to two already and they are really lacks, basically a relaxing weekend with a few meetings. (no happy clapper choirs I promise)
Food, accommodation, good times, all for $60!!!

Hey bro, im gonna try an make this. i'll bring my camera so we can show all the hotties how small your bike looks after i pass you and leave you behind :second: (jks)
Just figured out that i've already met you so atleast you're not some random. Would be cool to go down SH22 and then out to Raglan. I could also bring a spare helmet+gloves if you think there will be any girls wanting to go out for a ride (im not really a big fan of pillioning guys for obvious reasons).
Might have my clutch sorted by then too so could be some good wheelies on order :Punk:

28th August 2006, 11:43
Sweet bro, I was going to take my spare lid too. But if you are giving rides then somehow I think your best will get all the attention.
At the moment I is me, you, and addidy. What is your mate Tristan up to that weekend?
R6_kid
28th August 2006, 12:05

R6_kid
28th August 2006, 12:08
lol btw, he wants to ride your bike, so if you agree to that he might just come - you'd get to give his ZXR a thrash.
ben
28th August 2006, 12:09
I’ve told the organizers that it will be myself +3.
At the moment its R6 kid and addidy +1 (I can register for more up until Sunday night (10th).

Hey Ben, sorry about this, but can you remove me from the registation for the camp.. Money is short, as I also had to get a new rear brake pads with my tires, chain and sprockets.. Will come along for a ride to Raglan on either Friday arvo, or Saturday arvo depending on weather conditions, but won't make the camp itself.. hope you guys have fun though.. thanks

well, it doesn't exactly take 7 hours to get from Ngaruawhaia to Raglan, so you may want to leave Auckland a bit later? And looking at my mail delivery for the next few days, making 1pm is gonna not work at all: spent 9pm last night until 8am this morning sorting mail, let alone delivering it, so maybe look at 3:30pm/4pm at Ngaruwahia, that's about the best I can do, unless you want to go through to Raglan earlier than that, in which case I'll just meet you guys in Raglan later on in the day..

Hey Ben,
I have a leave pass to go riding on the Sunday, so what are your plans for heading home and what time would the camp break up?
We could do some tiki-touring around the upper Waikato on the way home if you're keen.

8:10am Friday Update: Bunches of grey cloud with a tiny spec of blue to the west of me (which could be goodish news), the only problem with the masses of the grey cloud: the rain which accompanies it.. looking at the weather forecast says more of this throughout the weekend, although I shall continue to hope that it clears by lunch, and that it is sunny for the rest of the afternoon, and that the roads are dry....
Flux: Will text you what ends up happening
Ben: Don't have your phone number, so I will PM you my one.. Give me a text sometime today to confirm meeting times etc

ok then hopefully i'll be there at 3 or very shortly after because i'll have to get across town from hillcrest...class finnishes at 3 so i'll just zip back to my flat and drop off my books and be on the road...my bike is back together and in rideable condition but i won't be breaking speed records today till i get back into the swing of things
will do my best to get a new front tire on the bike and i noticed my helmet has a few new scratches which is worrying...i dont recall dropping it at any stage and it seems fine but just incase i mite be looking at a new helmet as well:( will scab around for some $$$ i guess after the weekend...all i need is a nicer bike with all the gear ive got haha worth more than the bike itself
c you at 3...ish
